Free agent Hatem Ben Arfa is pursuing legal damages against his former club Paris Saint-Germain after going more than a year without competitive action.
Ben Arfa, 31, has been out of contract since June but his final competitive appearance for the French champions came in April last year as he was frozen out by the club's then coach Unai Emery.
The France international, linked with Rennes and Nice, wants PSG to pay for the way he was treated during the final season of his contract.
"My client's value has depreciated after a long period without playing," lawyer Christophe Bertrand told RMC Sport. "It was discrimination and unjustified isolation."
PSG responded through their legal director, who said Ben Arfa could have left the Parc des Princes while he was still under contract but did not do so and said not playing him had been "solely a sporting decision."
Sources have told ESPN FC that Ben Arfa could be reunited with former PSG teammate Kevin Trapp if he returns to Nice, with the Germany keeper potentially joining them on loan.
