Orlando City signs Swiss right-back Sutter from Young Boys

Orlando City completed the signing of right-back Scott Sutter from Swiss club Young Boys on Friday.

Sutter, 30, was born in England but has played in his father's native Switzerland since he was 16.

He played in 59 games for Grasshopper before moving in 2009, where he has played in both the Champions League qualifying rounds and the Europa League.

His addition will help the Lions following injuries to defenders Rafael Ramos and Kevin Alston ahead of Sunday's opener against New York City FC (5 p.m. ET, ESPN).

"We are very happy to have secured Scott's signature. He has great European and International experience that will will strengthen our defensive core this season."

Sutter made two appearances for the Switzerland national team in 2010.

Also on Friday, Orlando added striker Moussa Sane on loan from AS Dakar Sacre Soeur of the Senegalese first division and signed third-round draft pick Danny Deakin, while waiving defender David Mateos.
