One month of a new season of football has already whistled by in the blink of an eye. With it comes an evaluation of Nigerian player performances around the world.
In the summer, a posse of Nigerian players, buoyed by a third place finish at the Africa Cup of Nations, switched clubs. Those moves have led to some tear-up performances across Europe and elsewhere.
And then there are the unknowns, whose displays are screaming for recognition after a successful August.
1 VICTOR OSIMHEN, LILLE OSC
It's not often a 20-year-old comes into a new league and proceeds to destroy it with four goals in four games, but that is exactly what Osimhen has done.
Ligue 1 did not see him coming, relatively obscure as he was. Hauled in from Charleroi to fill a GBP72 million Pepe hole for Lille, the youngster would have been expected to take his time to settle in.
But that was too mundane for Osimhen. Instead, he raced off the blocks, announcing his arrival with a brace on his opening game of the season. He started by taking a long ball in stride, albeit with something of a heavy touch, held his marker off with strength and balance, then kept his wits to drill the ball past a hapless goalkeeper.
Osimhen is tied atop the Ligue 1 leading scorers' chart with Lyon's Memphis Depay. Anything but middling company.
Naturally, there is absolutely no contest for the top performer of the month, and if he keeps this up, Osimhen might well be crowned the natural successor to now-retired Odion Ighalo earlier than expected.
2 DAVID OKEREKE, CLUB BRUGGE
What can be better than scoring on your debut, and claiming a trophy in your very first game? Well, going on to score three more goals for your new club, that's what.
Okereke arrived in the offseason from Italy, and has unleashed an amazing array of on-target strikes on the Belgian league, instantly becoming a fan favorite.
3 JOE ARIBO, RANGERS
He has not pulled on the green-white-green shirt yet, but Aribo is showing that he will be right at home in the strip.
Joining Rangers from Charlton was a big step up and, like Osimhen, Aribo could have been forgiven for taking time to bed in. Instead, like Osimhen, he has lit up Ibrox, not just with his goals, but with electrifying displays of dynamism.
He scored in his opening two games for Rangers as they navigated the tricky waters of Europa League qualifying, then added two more, one in the same competition, another in the League Cup.
Aribo's energy has been a refreshing and needed addition to the Rangers dressing room, and will certainly be just as good a tonic for the Nigeria midfield.
4 WILFRED NDIDI, LEICESTER CITY
As usual, Ndidi continues to be a bulwark for Leicester. But it is not for that that he gets onto the list this month, and so high up.
Considered one of the best holding midfielders in the game, the Nigerian looked anything but when he allowed Mason Mount to pick his pocket and score for Chelsea.
But, in true Stephen Keshi style, Ndidi trundled up the other end to restore parity and earn the Foxes a hard fought share of the pickings from Stamford Bridge.
He does great work shielding the defence, and Ndidi now appears to have added goals to his repertoire.
5 ALEX IWOBI, EVERTON
Playing time was what Alex iwobi wanted when he made the move from Arsenal to Everton. And bar the first couple of games, he is getting it, and making the most of the opportunity too.
Iwobi came close to finding the back of the net in his opening game, twisting just around the box and letting fly as a sub in his very first Premier League game for Everton. Sadly, he was denied by the woodwork.
Iwobi was not to be deterred and made it count in the next game, a League Cup showdown against Lincoln City. If those were considered unworthy opponents for the lowliness of their station, he did it again in his very next game; a Premier League win over Wolverhampton Wanderers.
6 MOSES SIMON, NANTES
Tis the season for newbies and debutants to make an impression. Moses Simon wasted no time letting the Nantes fans know he was in town.
With the Amiens defense caught ball-watching, Simon slipped in behind and clipped Valentin Rongier's vertical ball past the goalkeeper for a debut and winning goal to earn Nantes a 2-1 road win... before showing off his multiple somersaults.
He was back again the very next match day to set up Abdoulaye Toure for the lone goal of the game very late on against Montpellier.
7 STEPHEN EZE, LOKOMOTIV PLOVDIV
Eze was impressive for Lokomotiv Plovdiv last season, and has simply carried on from there this term.
The defender has been ever present in the Lokomotiv back four, posting solid displays in all eight league games and one cup match so far.
He put the cherry on top with a goal against city rivals Botev Plovdiv, arriving at the far post to poke a free kick home from close range.
8 SAMUEL CHUKWUEZE, VILLARREAL
He may have scored in the opening game of the season, but it was in the very next game - which they lost after giving up the lead - that Chukwueze really showed his class by running at defenders, creating openings, and making life miserable for the Levante defenders.
9 CHIDERA EJUKE, HEERENVEEN
The first reaction to the name has got to be "Who??" But the former Supreme Court forward is looking like a supreme talent.
He blasted out the Eredivisie gates with a spectacular solo goal in his opening game as Heerenveen ran out 4-0 winners against Heracles.
There is little to say except to say, just watch the goal.
10 RAMON AZEEZ, GRANADA CF
He has only played two games, but Ramon Azeez is showing that he can add heart and hustle to the natural ability and skill he has always been known for.
No time was it more evident than when he stretched every sinew to meet and turn in a back post ball and seal the win against Espanyol.
