Liverpool forward Krisztian Adorjan has joined Groningen until June 2014, the English side have confirmed.
The Hungarian, 20, joined the Reds in 2009 from MTK Hungaria but has been unable to break into the first team despite impressing for the reserves.
A statement on Liverpool’s official website on Friday read: “Liverpool Football Club has today confirmed that Krisztian Adorjan has joined FC Groningen on a season-long loan deal.”
Groningen, who had announced the deal earlier this week, will have the option to make the deal permanent.
Adorjan told the Eredivisie side’s official website: “In the summer I heard about FC Groningen’s interest. That was immediately of interest to me. I follow Dutch football and love the way you play.
“I have never regretted joining the English club. My game has improved a lot and I had a great time. It’s just difficult to break into the first team when you have players like Steven Gerrard and Luis Suarez there.”
