Amauri to stay in NASL for second season with New York Cosmos

Former Serie A striker Amauri has changed NASL teams, leaving the Fort Lauderdale Strikers for the New York Cosmos.

Amauri, 36, scored five goals in 13 games for the Strikers last season but now moves to the second-tier league's champions.

"The New York Cosmos is one of the most storied soccer clubs in the world, as well as the defending NASL Champions," Amauri told the Cosmo's website.

"I look forward to helping the team win yet another championship."

Amauri previously played in Italy with Parma, Napoli, Piacenza, Empoli, Messina, Chievo, Palermo, Juventus, Fiorentina and Torino.

The Cosmos have won the NASL title the past two years but overcame an uncertain future this winter before being sold to Mediacom CEO Rocco Commisso.
