Nashville SC moves first USL home game to NFL stadium

Nashville SC will play the first league home game in its history at Nissan Stadium, the home of the NFL's Tennessee Titans.

The expansion club said a demand for tickets led to the shift for its first home game in the second-tier USL, on March 24 against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds.

The move comes after a crowd of 9,049 watched Nashville's first preseason friendly against MLS club Atlanta United on Saturday.

That game was played at First Tennessee Park, the Triple-A baseball venue where the club will play the rest of its game this year.

The club's ownership group was also recently awarded a Major League Soccer franchise, with plans to begin play in 2019 or 2020. The group has approval to build a soccer-specific stadium at the Nashville Fairgrounds.

In July, Nissan Stadium had over 47,000 people watch the U.S. face Panama in a Gold Cup game, and that same month over 56,000 watched Premier League clubs Manchester City and Tottenham face off in the International Champions Cup.
