Mexico-Colombia friendly in Denver canceled due to coronavirus concerns

Mexico's friendly against Colombia on May 30 in Denver has been canceled due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Refunds are being given out on tickets already purchased, although the Mexican and Colombian federations are looking to arrange a new date at some point ahead of Qatar 2022.

"At this moment, our top priority is the health of our fans, players and staff," read the statement for the Mexican federation and organizer Soccer United Marketing. "We continue to monitor the situation and follow all pertinent health agency guidelines."

Mexico was scheduled to play Greece and the Czech Republic in the United States during the March FIFA international date, but both games were also canceled as the coronavirus pandemic spread.

El Tri's game against Colombia was set to be preparation for CONCACAF's Nations League semifinals and final in Texas on June 4 and June 7, which hasn't been suspended as yet.

On March 13, CONCACAF suspended all competitions taking place in the following 30-day period and announced on March 19 that the Women's Under-17s Championships and the 2020 CONCACAF Futsal Championships, scheduled to begin on May 1 and end on May 10, were suspended.

Liga MX has been suspended "until further notice" with the league president testing positive for coronavirus last Friday.
