Solskjaer: United players right to surround ref during Liverpool defeat

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has said his players were right to surround referee Craig Pawson during the defeat to Liverpool after Manchester United were hit with an FA charge for failing to control their players.

Victor Lindelof, Luke Shaw, David De Gea, Andreas Pereira, Fred and Harry Maguire launched a ferocious appeal after Pawson allowed Roberto Firmino to score following an aerial challenge between De Gea and Virgil van Dijk.

The goal was eventually ruled out by VAR -- a decision that Solskjaer said showed his players were right to protest.

"Maybe I shouldn't talk too much about that," Solskjaer said.

"Let's get that decision done. I reacted myself because everybody could see it was a foul."

United have until Thursday to respond to the FA and could be hit with a fine if they are found guilty.

A statement issued by the FA on Tuesday read: "It is alleged that the club failed to ensure its players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion during the 26th minute of the Premier League fixture against Liverpool FC on Sunday."
