Manchester United's Victor Lindelof (thigh) expected to miss a month

MANCHESTER, England -- Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof is expected to miss about a month due to a thigh injury he picked up against Crystal Palace on Saturday.

"Victor [has] a proper injury that will keep him out for a while," said United boss Jose Mourinho ahead of the team's Champions League match against Swiss side Young Boys. "[Phil] Jones, [Chris] Smalling and [Eric] Bailly are the three [defenders] we have. He has a muscular problem and muscular problem takes time."

The Swede limped off at the end of Saturday's draw and missed Monday's training, and will undergo a scan on Tuesday.

"I would say if we have him for the Christmas period where we need, if possible, every player to be available for that difficult period until the Newcastle match on Jan. 2. If we can have Victor available for that period, that will be good," Mourinho said.

United can book their place in the knockout rounds with victory over the Swiss champions at Old Trafford on Tuesday.

Matteo Darmian, who started against Palace, was also missing from Monday's training, along with Marcos Rojo.

Bailly, Ander Herrera and Diogo Dalot were not part of the squad against Palace but all took part in training.

Dalot has not featured since the Carabao Cup exit to Derby County on Sept. 25.
