Manchester City's Sergio Aguero reiterates Independiente plans

Sergio Aguero says he will finish his career at former club Independiente after paying for the Argentine club's new training ground.

The Manchester City striker has always expressed his desire to end his career in his homeland with Independiente -- the club he supported as a boy.

The 27-year-old said earlier this month that he will return to the club when his current contract runs out in 2019.

Aguero has now teamed up with former player Gabriel Milito, who also played for Barcelona, to fund new state-of-the-art training facilities at the Buenos Aires club.

Visiting the complex on Wednesday, Aguero told reporters: "The fans of Independiente know that I am going to retire here and I have thought about returning.

"Seeing how the club are improving is impressive and makes me happy. I am anxious to return."

Independiente president Hugo Moyano added: "What they are doing is important for Independiente is priceless and will be remembered forever.

"This really shows the love for the institution -- not just what they did on the pitch, but the love that they show the club. The fans are not going to forget it."

Aguero became the youngest player in the history of the Argentine top flight when he made his debut for Independiente in 2003 as a 15-year-old.

It had been suggested that he could sign a contract extension at City until 2020 and manager Manuel Pellegrini believes he could yet change his mind and remain at the Etihad Stadium for longer.

The City boss said earlier this month: "It's difficult to talk about what will happen in two or three years, because players change their minds. Maybe he will be happy to return to Argentina, but Kun has a lot more years here in Europe."
