Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino both created Liverpool history when they scored in Tuesday's Champions League quarterfinal second leg victory over Manchester City. Salah bagged his 39th goal of the season in all competitions to make it 1-1 at the Etihad Stadium before Firmino netted the winner in the 77th minute to give Liverpool a 5-1 victory on aggregate over the Premier League leaders. Both players took their Champions League goal tally this season to eight, which is more than any other player in Liverpool's history. The pair have contributed to Liverpool's 33 goals in the Champions League this term that set another record for the most scored in the competition by an English side in a single campaign. "I've changed my position many times, but in the end we play as a team. We play as 11 players and everyone gives 100 percent, so we are happy about the result," Salah told BT Sport. "I've said many times that I play for the team and I try to score each game to try to help the team to win the games. That's the most important thing for me." Meanwhile, Liverpool's two victories during the quarterfinal tie mean Jurgen Klopp is the most successful manager to face Pep Guardiola, having now beaten him on seven occasions during his career. Tuesday's result was the third time Liverpool have beaten City this season and they become the first team to pick up three wins against a Guardiola-managed side in a single campaign.
