Albert Rusnak set to leave Manchester City for Groningen

Manchester City youngster Albert Rusnak is set to leave the club on a permanent basis to join Groningen, sources have told ESPN FC.

Rusnak is currently on loan at Eredivisie side Cambuur Leeuwarden until January, where he has been winning plenty of new admirers.

Cambuur were keen to extend his stay and make the move permanent, with the 20-year-old having scored three goals in 15 appearances, helping the club to eighth spot in the table.

However, his performances have not gone unnoticed among other clubs in the Eredivisie and across Europe, with Groningen having jumped to the head of the queue for the attacking midfielder.

Rusnak joined City as a 16-year-old from FC Kosice but struggled to establish himself in the Premier League club's first team, and so they are willing to sell him in January.

Talks are thought to be at an advanced stage between Groningen and City, with the player believed to have agreed a three-and-a-half-year deal to join the Dutch side and end his spell at the Etihad Stadium.
