UEFA opens disciplinary proceedings against Wales for pitch invasion

NYON, Switzerland -- UEFA has opened disciplinary proceedings against Wales for a pitch invasion by fans during a 2-1 win at Andorra in a European Championship qualifier on Tuesday.

The Andorran federation is also facing sanctions after its players received six yellow cards and UEFA criticized "insufficient organization."

Gareth Bale struck twice to secure the win for Wales but some fans invaded the pitch to celebrate after the Real Madrid player scored the winner.

UEFA said a decision will be made on both cases on Oct. 16. Both teams are facing a wide range of sanctions, including a points deduction.
