LAFC sign El Salvador striker Rodolfo 'Fito' Zelaya to two-year deal

LAFC have signed El Salvador international forward Rodolfo "Fito" Zelaya from Alianza FC.

The 30-year-old Zelaya is considered one of the top players in the CONCACAF region. He joins the MLS club on a two-year deal and will not occupy an international roster spot because he has a green card.

"We're pleased to secure a player of Rodolfo's quality as we continue our preparations for the 2019 season," LAFC general manager John Thorrington said in a team statement. "Rodolfo is a proven goalscorer, both at the club and international levels, and he will add another dimension to our attack.

"Along with our supporters, we are excited to welcome him to Los Angeles and integrating him to the group as soon as possible."

A longtime MLS target, Zelaya joined Alianza in 2008 and has spent loan spells at Mexican side Club Leon and at Russia's Alania Vladikavkaz in that time.

The four-time Gold Cup participant has received 44 caps for El Salvador, scoring 21 goals which is tied for second-most in team history.
