Fabio Capello leaves Jiangsu Suning, Cosmin Olaroiu named new manager

Fabio Capello has quit as head coach of Chinese Super League side Jiangsu Suning, the club confirmed in a statement on their official website on Wednesday.

The Italian, who joined the club midway through last season, is believed to have relinquished his position following a series of disagreements behind the scenes.

Jiangsu have won one and lost two of the opening three games of the Chinese Super League season and the club have moved swiftly to replace Capello, appointing Romanian coach Cosmin Olaroiu in his place.

Capello took over from Choi Yong-soo last year after the South Korean had allowed the club to drop into the relegation zone less than half a season after Jiangsu had finished as runners-up in both the Chinese Super League and the Chinese FA Cup.

Jiangsu eventually finished in 12th place in the 16 team division, 10 points clear of the relegation zone.

Olaroiu led Al Ahli of the United Arab Emirates to the final of the 2015 Asian Champions League, where they narrowly lost to seven-time Chinese Super League champions Guangzhou Evergrande.

Capello is the second coach to vacate his position in the Chinese Super League so far this season following Ma Lin's departure from Dalian Yifang. Dalian appointed former Real Madrid coach Bernd Schuster as his replacement.

Jiangsu return to action in the Chinese Super League on Sunday when they take on Tianjin Teda.
