Hamburg ended the season on a high with a 3-1 win at Augsburg, whose coach Markus Weinzierl has been linked with the vacant job at Schalke.
Alfred Finnbogason put Augsburg in front, taking advantage of a misunderstanding between Hamburg goalkeeper Tom Mickel and defender Johan Djourou to head the hosts in front.
Augsburg missed several chances to increase their lead and they were made to rue doing so when Michael Gregoritsch curled in a free-kick to bring Hamburg level.
Nicolai Muller headed in a second for the visitors before Gregoritsch completed the scoring.
