Amiens heap more misery on Nice; Metz sit bottom in Ligue 1

Amiens secured their first points of the season as Gael Kakuta's free kick and a Moussa Konate brace steered them to a 3-0 home victory over Nice.

The hosts, promoted to Ligue 1 after finishing as runners-up in the second tier last term, had failed prior to this game to even register a goal while opening their campaign with three straight defeats.

But they hit the back of the net twice inside the opening half an hour against Nice, Kakuta firing in a 15th-minute free-kick and Konate then converting a header 13 minutes later.

Konate subsequently wrapped up the win with a strike two minutes from time as Nice lost again after crashing out of the Champions League playoff round in midweek.

Amiens are now off the foot of the table, up to 18th, with bottom place being occupied by Metz, who remain without a point after suffering a 1-0 loss at Caen.

Ronny Rodelin notched the only goal in the 50th minute having been teed up by Christian Kouakou.

Rennes, still looking for their first win of the season, slipped into the relegation zone between Amiens and Metz following their 3-2 loss at Toulouse.

The away side were in front early on through Firmin Mubele and after then falling behind courtesy of Jimmy Durmaz's penalty and an Issa Diop goal, they made it 2-2 in the 65th minute via Ismaila Sarr.

Around five minutes later Toulouse were awarded a penalty, and after Morgan Amilfitano's protests over the decision led to the Rennes man being sent off, Durmaz once again stepped up and converted from six yards.

Dijon moved out of the bottom three having posted their maiden victory this term, a 2-1 home win over Montpellier.

Benjamin Jeannot scored what proved to be the winner in the 62nd minute, adding to his opener in first-half stoppage time that had subsequently been cancelled out by Giovanni Sio's 49th-minute effort.

Dijon, previously 18th, are now 14th in the table.

Fourth-placed Lyon were left frustrated as they failed to turn dominance into goals in a 0-0 draw at Nantes.

Bruno Genesio's men created a considerable number of chances at the Stade de la Beaujoire but the closest they came to scoring was when Bertrand Traore and Nabil Fekir each hit the woodwork in quick succession in the second half, the former striking against post and the latter then seeing his effort connect with the crossbar.

Elsewhere, Bordeaux moved up a place to fifth having seen off Troyes 2-1 at home.

Francois Kamano and Younousse Sankhare put the hosts 2-0 up before Stephane Darbion's reply.
