Norway claimed their second win in four days as they recorded a 2-1 Euro 2016 qualifying victory over Bulgaria at the Ullevaal Stadion.

Tarik Elyounoussi struck early on for the home side but Nikolay Bodurov levelled the scores at the break before Havard Nielsen's strike with 20 minutes to go sealed the win for Per-Mathias Hogmo's side in Olso.

The hosts, who defeated Malta 3-0 on Friday, moved into third in the Group H table as they leapfrogged Monday night's opponents who have three points from their opening three games.

Both sides took a while to settle in after Norway's Havard Nordtveit powered his opening-minute free-kick into the stands, before the away side went close as Orjan Haskjold made a save to keep out Apostol Popov's effort.

Soon after Bulgaria forward Ventsislav Hristov missed the target, Elyounoussi handed the home side the lead - the first time in a match they have taken a home lead under coach Hogmo.

The Hoffenheim striker raced onto Per Ciljan Skjelbred's cross from the left which flew over the visiting defence before he slotted it home past goalkeeper Nikolay Mihaylov with a tap in at the far post.

Midway through the first half Martin Linnes almost netted a second for the home side as Mihaylov not tipped his effort round the post and Elyounoussi went close to adding to his opener as the game approached the half-hour mark as he fired a long-range shot wide.

But Bulgaria pulled level two minutes before the break after Georgi Iliev's corner found the head of Bodurov in the centre of the box and he made no mistake with his side's equaliser.

The visitors had two half-chances to go in front as the second half got underway but neither Iliev's tame long-range effort which went wide, or Veselin Minev's shot straight at goalkeeper Haskjold, made any difference.

Second-half substitute Nielsen, on for the injured Joshua King after 58 minutes, went close to putting Norway ahead 14 minutes after taking to the pitch but sent his chance wide.

But he made up for his miss moments later as he sent home Skjelbred's cross from the left, striking low into the back of the net from 12 yards out.

Neither side looked likely add to their score as the match wore on and Norway sealed a narrow win.

Norway were also able to give a competitive debut - from the bench - to Martin Odegaard, aged just 15 and 300 days.
