Manchester United's Fred sits out Brazil training session with ankle injury

New Manchester United midfielder Fred did not train with Brazil on Friday as he continues his recovery from an ankle injury, sources have told ESPN FC.

The 25-year-old was forced out of the session on Thursday after a collision with Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro. He sat out training on Friday -- Brazil's last session in London before they fly to Vienna -- to work alone with medical staff.

Brazil face Austria on Sunday in their final friendly before their World Cup campaign starts against Switzerland in Rostov on June 17 and Globoesporte has reported Fred is expected to miss out.

United announced on Tuesday they have agreed a deal, which sources have told ESPN FC is worth around £47 million, with Ukrainian champions Shakhtar Donetsk for Fred.

After featuring for Brazil against Croatia at Anfield on Sunday, he underwent a medical at Carrington on Monday before rejoining the Brazil squad in London.

He became Jose Mourinho's first signing of the summer following swiftly by 19-year-old full-back Diogo Dalot, who has moved to Old Trafford in a £19m move from Porto.
