Non-league Eastleigh knock out Swindon Town in FA Cup first round

Eastleigh produced an FA Cup first-round shock by dumping out League One Swindon Town after a 3-1 win in their replay at the County Ground.

The National League side took a ninth-minute lead through Jai Reason and never looked back with Andy Drury doubling their lead before the break and Mikael Mandron's 74th-minute penalty making sure, with Nathan Delfouneso scoring a consolation.

Tim Sherwood, the former Tottenham manager who was hired as Swindon's director of football last week, made the curious decision to come out of the stands to sit on the bench as his side fell behind.

Swindon coach Luke Williams said of Sherwood's move: "He wanted more input from the side. No one was surprised. He wants to help in every way.

"There will have to be more hard work and the players need to quickly get on board with plenty of new ideas that Tim has brought to the club.

"We all have to perform week in and week out and if we don't we can expect to be replaced."

Taunton, who were the lowest-ranked side left in the competition, threatened an upset at Barrow when Ed Palmer equalised Jordan Williams' opener with just 17 minutes to go. However, the hosts restored their lead through Ryan Yates a couple of minutes later to spoil the Southern Football League Division One South & West club's 297-mile journey home.

National League side Solihull Moors defeated League Two Yeovil Town 4-2 in a penalty shootout as, after 90 goalless minutes, Akwasi Asante's penalty cancelled out Francois Zoko's extra-time opener for Yeovil.

League One Fleetwood's superior fitness told as they ran out 4-1 winners over Southport with Cian Bolger, Ashley Hunter and Amari'i Bell all scoring in extra time after Ashley Grimes' 87th-minute equaliser had given the National League side hope.

Rory Gaffney scored twice, including the important first goal in extra time, as Bristol Rovers beat Crawley 4-2 with Matty Taylor's penalty securing the win in the 102nd minute.

Newport County scored three times in extra time through Jordan Green, Josh Sheehan and Jazzi Barnum-Bobb to see off Alfreton 4-1.

AFC Wimbledon secured a second-round clash at Curzon Ashton by beating Bury 5-0. First-half goals from Paul Robinson, Dean Parrett and substitute Dominic Poleon -- who added a second 18 minutes from time -- put the game beyond Bury with Lyle Taylor scoring the fifth late on.

Cheltenham did similar damage at Crewe in the first hour with Harry Pell, Jack Barthram, Billy Waters and Dan Holman all on the scoresheet before Ryan Lowe's consolation in a 4-1 outcome.

There was no upset at Rochdale where the League One hosts were 2-0 winners against National League side Maidstone with Steven Davies scoring twice, once from the penalty spot, inside the opening 22 minutes.

Matty Koslyo snatched a 90th-minute winner for Conference North side Halifax as they beat Dagenham & Redbridge, from the division above, 2-1.

Tom Denton put Halifax ahead, the visitors had Oliver Hawkins sent off, Jordan Sinnott missed a penalty to double the lead and Corey Whitley equalised before the late drama.

Coventry were also 2-1 winners, at home to Morecambe, thanks to two goals from Marvin Sordell to turn things around after Dean Winnard's opener, while Jonathan Forte and Aaron Collins scored in Notts County's 2-0 win at home to Boreham Wood.
