Diego Maradona has defended his lively goal celebrations following his debut win in charge of Mexican side Dorados, saying if his heart was to explode he "hopes it explodes on a football pitch."
Maradona was treated by paramedics after watching Argentina beat Nigeria at the World Cup this summer and has suffered a number of health problems over the years.
The 57-year-old was surprisingly unveiled as the new manager of the second-tier Mexican side last week, with his team beating Tapachula 4-1 on Monday night in the first match of his reign.
With television cameras fixed on the sidelines during the match, Maradona did not hold back as Dorados racked up the goals, and was seen leaping up and down as he embraced his players and staff.
"If my heart explodes, I hope it explodes on a football pitch," Maradona told ESPN following his side's win.
"I come (to Dorados) to work. I have already said this. I do not come to steal the money from anyone. (I don't come) to say that I am Maradona and that I am the one who scored the goal in (the World Cup) 1986. That is already past and people want present. Now I am present and that is why I come here to work."
Ecuadorian striker Vinicio Angulo scored twice to put Doradoas ahead after 61 minutes. Argentinian Sebastian Ibars got a goal back for the visitors two minutes later to dampen the mood but Angulo struck again with a quarter of an hour remaining to put Maradona's side 3-1 up.
Alonso Escoboza added a fourth for the home side in the 85th minute.
