Montreal Impact's Dominic Oduro says Alajuelense fans racist

Fans from the Costa Rican side Alajuelense directed racist chants toward Montreal Impact winger Dominic Oduro, the Ghanian claimed on Tuesday night via Twitter.

The Canadian side reached its first CONCACAF Champions League final on away goals, despite a 4-2 second-leg loss to Alajuelense.

The Ghanaian, 29, set up the opener for the Impact in Tuesday's defeat.

Oduro could play in Costa Rica again in the two-legged final as Herediano hold a 3-0 advantage over Mexican side Club America ahead of the second leg of their last-four tie.

CONCACAF confirmed that one of its diversity officials identified the situation, which happened at the 75th minute and activated its protocol, which included warnings over the stadium loudspeakers.

"The protocol worked and the chants stopped," the official told The Associated Press.
