Chilean goalkeeper gets 4-year ban for breaking player's jaw with kick

The Chile Football Association (ANFA) dealt a four-year ban to Claudio Abarca after the General Velazquez goalkeeper kicked the face of Estacion Central's Diego Diaz and fractured the forward's jaw in three places.

The kick was so violent that Chilean police came onto the field to detain Abarca, who spent the night in jail while Diaz was stretchered off to the hospital on Monday.

Abarca was released the following day under a restraining order. ANFA dealt him a four-year ban on Thursday.

The third-division match was played at San Vicente de Tagua, 125 kilometers south of Santiago.
