Adnan Januzaj scores in first Borussia Dortmund appearance

Manchester United loanee Adnan Januzaj scored only 18 minutes into his first Borussia Dortmund appearance in a friendly at St Pauli on Tuesday.

Dortmund, who were without their international players for the game at the Millerntor, won 2-1 in a game that saw 1,000 refugees accept the invitation to mix with supporters.

Dortmund established an early lead over the second-tier side, with Gonzalo Castro opening the scoring before Januzaj added a second with a deflected long-range strike.

BVB coach Thomas Tuchel told reporters after the match: "Adnan only trained with the team once, and also had minor problems with his thigh last week, but in spite of that he has hinted at his potential, and was strong in his dribbling."

The 20-year-old Belgian joined BVB on loan on the final day of the German transfer window, but Sport Bild reported on Wednesday that Dortmund do not have an option for a permanent deal, although they will have first refusal should United decide they wish to cash in.

He could make his official debut for the Bundesliga leaders away to Hannover on Saturday, with Tuchel telling reporters: "Everything's possible."

However, Marco Reus and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang face a battle to prove their fitness after returning early from international duty with minor injuries.

"It's a race against time for Marco, and I can't say anything about Auba yet," Tuchel said.
