Things change in the blink of an eye in football. The Football Whispers Index takes the latest transfer rumours and gives them a score out of five; the higher the score, the more realistic and reliable the Whisper.

Here are today's top five emerging whispers. And keep an eye on Transfer Talk for all the latest gossip.

Eric Bailly to AC Milan

With Bailly not having featured since being hauled off after 19 minutes of Manchester United's 3-2 win over Newcastle United last month, Milan will attempt to bring the defender to San Siro in January. Sources have told ESPN that Bailly is increasingly unsettled with his lack of first-team football and the Serie A giants will look to capitalise on that when the transfer window reopens. However, there is also interest from Premier League sides.

Nicolas Pepe to Manchester City

Pepe's fine form for Lille this season has caught the attention of several of Europe's biggest sides and Manchester City are weighing up a move, according to The Times. The report states the Ligue 1 side value the 23-year-old forward, who has previously been linked with a move to Bayern Munich, at around £44m.

David Luiz to Barcelona

With Samuel Umtiti's return date from injury still unknown, the La Liga champions continue to search Europe for defensive reinforcements and the latest name on their reported wanted list is Chelsea star Luiz. According to Mundo Deportivo, Ernesto Valverde would like an experienced centre-back to arrive in January and the 31-year-old Luiz, whose contract at Stamford Bridge expires in the summer, is seen as an obtainable target.

Medhi Benatia to Manchester United

Jose Mourinho will reportedly be given £100m to spend in January to improve his defence and, according to Tuttosport one of the names on the Portuguese's shortlist is Juventus centre-back Benatia. The 31-year-old has featured in only four of Juventus' 11 Serie A games this term and has admitted he could leave Turin when the transfer window reopens.

Cengiz Under to Tottenham Hotspur

Under is attracting interest from a number of sides ahead of January and Rai Sport claim Tottenham are prepared to launch a £52m move to sign the Roma winger. The Turkey international, who has scored three goals and claimed five assists this term, is also reportedly on the radars of Bayern Munich and Barcelona.
