Remember Gaizka Mendieta? Nonchalant, suavely unkempt former Valencia, Lazio, Barcelona, Middlesborough and Spain midfielder? Sixth-most expensive player of all time (48 million euros)? Cool as Miles Davis and The Fonz eating cucumbers in a walk-in freezer? Used to do things like this with unerring regularity?
Yep, that's the guy.
Well, several years after hanging up his boots and settling down with his family in Yarm, a town just outside Middlesborough, Mendieta, 38, apparently now has his sights set on making it on the part-time nightclub DJ scene (with a nice little promotional assist from the Ford Motor Company).
Mendieta played his first gig in London a few weeks ago, dropping massive chooooons from the likes of Aretha Franklin, The Jam and Kings of Leon...
