Mohammed Ghaddar signs with JDT after leaving troubled Kelantan

Kelantan striker Mohammed Ghaddar has added to the attacking prowess of Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) by signing with the three-time defending Malaysia Super League (MSL) champions.

The Lebanese international, who leads the MSL scoring charts with 18 goals, moves south during the mid-season transfer window.

His departure is the latest blow to cash-strapped giants Kelantan, who were docked six points for failing to meet the deadline for 2017 player registrations and outstanding compensation.

"After a great and remarkable half a season in Kelantan and with the respect to the club and fans, I will be leaving the club and moving on with my career with JDT," Ghaddar said on his Instagram account.

Offical announcment After a great and remarkable half season in KELANTAN FC and with all my respect to the club and fans I announce that I will be leaving the club and moving on with my career to JDT. This is an opportunity of a lifetime for me as a professional footballer and for my family. I highly appreciate what Kelantan FC has done for me especially Tan Sri Annuar Musa who always considers me as his son. I will always remember my second home Kelantan FC. ❤️❤️

The news is a big boost for JDT who lead the MSL table by six points after 12 games and are into the semifinals of the 2017 AFC Cup.

"The deal is still under negotiation. It will be a win-win situation for all concerned with the deal becoming the highest domestic transfer in Malaysian football history," JDT sport director Alistair Edwards told The Star.

"This is a good deal for both clubs as Kelantan will be able to settle their financial issues and purchase new players. For JDT, we will get an excellent player who has a proven track record and is hungry for success."

JDT will face Ceres-Negros of the Philippines in the first leg of their AFC Cup semifinal at Larkin Stadium on Wednesday night.
