Ex-UEFA president Michel Platini: I'll return to football, but not as a daily job

Former UEFA president Michel Platini has told RMC he will return to football but does not want to be involved in the game on a daily basis.

Platini had appeared set to succeed Sepp Blatter as the head of FIFA when revelations of a "disloyal payment" from Blatter emerged in 2015.

Gianni Infantino, Platini's former general secretary at UEFA, instead replaced Blatter and Platini fought to reduce an eight-year ban from football activities imposed by FIFA.

The former France midfielder eventually saw his suspension reduced to four years, meaning he can return to the game next October.

"I was vice-president of Nancy, I have done a lot of things already," he said in an interview with former France player Christophe Dugarry.

"And I remind you, Mr. Dugarry, that I'm still banned from all activities linked to football for another year, so I don't officially have the right to be in this world of FIFA crooks [laughs]. Apologies, it just came out.

"I don't think I'll want to be in it all the time. I think I'll do something, I'm in the middle of defining what that will be, but I won't do it every day, I'll do it in a philosophical way. I'll tell you more one of these days."
