LIVE Transfer Talk: Chelsea's Wesley Fofana move stalls as Leicester hold out for £80m

The summer transfer window is here, and there's plenty of gossip swirling about who's moving where. Transfer Talk brings you all the latest buzz on rumours, comings, goings and, of course, done deals!

TOP STORY: Leicester holding out for £80m for Fofana

Chelsea have agreed personal terms with Wesley Fofana, but their move for the centre-back might be scuppered by Leicester City's demands of an £80 million transfer fee.

The Daily Mail reports that while Thomas Tuchel's side have made offers of £60m and £65m for the 21-year-old, the Foxes are not willing to let the France international leave for anything less than £80m -- the world record for a defender.

Fofana is just one of several Leicester players who are rumoured to be leaving King Power Stadium, with midfield maestro James Maddison reportedly on Newcastle United's radar and Youri Tielemans being tracked by Arsenal. All three players started in Saturday's 4-2 loss to the Gunners, and it remains to be seen if they will be part of Brendan Rodgers' squad once the transfer window closes.

RB Leipzig centre-back Josko Gvardiol has been touted as a potential alternative if Chelsea and Leicester cannot agree terms for Fofana.

21.29 BST: Real Betis centre-back Marc Bartra is en route to Turkey to complete a €5m move to Trabzonspor, according to Mundo Deportivo. The 31-year-old former Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund standout will now sign a three-year contract with the Turkish Super Lig club.

20.42 BST: Kicker writes that Bayer Leverkusen striker Paulinho is attracting interest back home from Atletico Mineiro and Palmeiras. The 22-year-old has just one year remaining on his contract and has no interest of signing a new deal, but neither Brazilian outfit have yet offered a transfer fee that the Bundesliga club find agreeable, having themselves paid an €18.5m fee in 2018.

19.55 BST: Leeds United remain in talks with the Philadelphia Union over the transfer of 25-year-old left-back Kai Wagner, CBS Sports' Ben Jacobs reports. Jesse Marsch is keen on completing a deal for the German-born defender who's in his fourth season in MLS, but faces competition from Lisbon giants Benfica.

19.08 BST: Valencia have rejected the €5m transfer offer of Turkish giants Fenerbahce for striker Maxi Gomez, according to AS. While the Spanish club have been convinced to lower their demands for a €20m to something closer to €12m, Los Che are said to have come to the realisation that even that figure could prove too rich for most to afford.

Valencia have already seen influential figures Jasper Cillessen and Goncalo Guedes leave the club, but are keen to add Arthur from Juventus and Bryan Gil from Tottenham Hotspur. Those deals will be dependent on raising funds and clearing wages, which is adding pressure to the club's attempts to offload players like Gomez.

18.21 BST: With their pursuit of Leicester City playmaker James Maddison seemingly having stalled, Newcastle United have set their sights on Chelsea playmaker Conor Gallagher, the Sun writes. Blues boss Thomas Tuchel remains an admirer of the England international who shone on loan at Crystal Palace last season, but with N'Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic and Jorginho all vying for regular minutes, Gallagher may find opportunities at Stamford Bridge to remain with just three months left until the World Cup kicks off.

17.34 BST: Spanish news agency EFE reports that Giovanni Simeone arrived in Naples on Saturday night, having already completed his medical, to finalise a transfer from Hellas Verona to Napoli. The 27-year-old is the son of Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone, whose playing career included eight years in Italy with Pisa, Inter Milan and Lazio. The Estadio Diego Maradona would mark Giovanni's fifth home in Italy, having already featured for Genoa, Fiorentina and Cagliari.

16.47 BST: Corriere dello Sport has the latest on the attempts of Cristiano Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes's efforts to find his client a new home, as Manchester United slipped further into disarray following their 4-0 dismantling at the hands of Brentford on Saturday. AC Milan and Inter Milan both have reportedly passed on the idea of acquiring the Portugal captain, with his €45m gross annual wages too hefty for both San Siro sides.

The report suggests that Ronaldo is edging closer to a return to Sporting CP, where he spent six seasons before moving to Old Trafford in 2003. The Lisbon club can offer Champions League football, a driving force behind the 37-year-old's desire to leave United, and the Red Devils reportedly will cover a portion of the former Real Madrid and Juventus talisman's wages.

16.00 BST: Man United have struggled so far this season.

14.33 BST: Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo is attracting plenty of attention, most notably from Manchester United, says The Daily Mirror.

Caicedo, 20, caught the eye in the 2-1 victory over United a week ago and the Ecuador international has seen Arsenal, West Ham, Juventus, Atletico Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen monitor him in recent months.

Brighton signed the defensive midfielder from Independiente del Valle in February 2021 for £4.5m, but could move him on if a significant bid arrives.

13.55 BST: Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan is out of contract in 2023, but the club are ready to offer him new terms, says The Daily Star.

Gundogan, 31, is a key player for City and his goals helped them win the Premier League on the final day of last season.

The Germany international has been linked with a move to Italian giants Juventus, but after letting the likes of Raheem Sterling, Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko depart, City boss Pep Guardiola is not keen to see Gundogan go as well.

Barcelona are also targeting Bernardo Silva, which would see City left short in midfield.

13.07 BST: Chelsea have offered Barcelona around €14m to sign striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, but it has been rejected, says Relevo.

Aubameyang, 33, left Arsenal on a free transfer to move to Camp Nou in February but Chelsea are keen to bring him back to London.

Barcelona are happy to let Aubameyang go, but want €25m to do so.

12.10 BST: Arsenal right-back Hector Bellerin doesn't have a future at the club and both parties are looking for a move this summer.

Relevo says that Bellerin has been contacted by Barcelona (where he began his career at La Masia academy) and also Atletico Madrid, but the defender's priority is to join Real Betis, where he spent last season on loan.

Bellerin, 27, would likely be released from his contract and move on a free transfer.

11.37 BST: Nottingham Forest have submitted a bid for Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

Aouar, 24, was linked with Arsenal a few years ago for around €60m, but now his contract is expiring Forest are able to land him for around €15m.

11.00 BST: Gabriel Jesus has started life at Arsenal very well.

10.12 BST: AS Monaco have signed midfielder Mohamed Camara from FC Salzburg for around €15m.

Camara, 22, played in 36 matches in all competitions last season and the Mali international has now signed a five-year deal with Monaco, with Leeds also having been interested.

"I am very happy to join a big club like AS Monaco," he said. "I had the opportunity to experience very good seasons with Salzburg, where I strengthened and where I could have a magnificent first experience in Europe. I am now fully concentrated on this new step in my career."

10.05 BST: Napoli are looking to sign Tottenham midfielder Tanguy Ndombele next week, says Fabrizio Romano.

Ndombele, 25, has struggled in London and spent the second half of last season on loan back at former club Lyon. However, Lyon opted not to take up their €65m clause to sign him permanently.

Napoli have now agreed a loan with an option to sign him permanently next summer, though details are still being discussed.

09.18 BST: Former Man United striker Edinson Cavani is still looking for a club, with French side Nice keen to land him, says RTL.

Cavani, 35, left United on a free transfer this summer and has been linked with a host of clubs in Spain, Italy, MLS and South America.

However, Nice are hoping to bring in the Uruguay international -- who holds the Paris Saint-Germain scoring record with 200 goals in 301 games.

Marseille forward Bamba Dieng is also reportedly an option.

09.00 BST: Xavi Hernandez says Barcelona still need to strengthen their squad after opening the season with a disappointing 0-0 draw against Rayo Vallecano at Camp Nou on Saturday.

Barca handed debuts to four of their five summer signings against Rayo, with Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha and Andreas Christensen all starting. Franck Kessie came on in the second half.

All four of them were registered with LaLiga on Friday after the club sold 24.5% of Barca Studios to take the total raised from asset sales this summer to over €700m.

Jules Kounde has not yet been registered and won't be until Barca create more salary space, but the Blaugrana are pursuing further signings, with Marcos Alonso, Bernardo Silva and possibly another right-back all wanted.

"I've already said we have to keep strengthening and we have time until Aug. 31 [when the transfer window closes]," Xavi said in his post game news conference. "But I don't want to use that as an excuse [for the Rayo result]. I understand the disappointment, expectations are really high. We will have to analyse the game, improve and keep believing in the model of play.

"Rayo defended well. It was harder for us to create [chances] than usual. It's a shame because we wanted to show the fans that we're on a good path. It's disappointing, but we ask for patience."

PAPER GOSSIP

- Manchester City will not only sign Anderlecht left-back Sergio Gomez for £11m, but also will make a play for Arsenal's Kieran Tierney. That's according to the Mail, which says Pep Guardiola's side are yet to make a formal bid for the Scotland international but are "monitoring the situation."

- Xavi Hernandez insisted that Frenkie de Jong is an "important" Barcelona player after Saturday's 0-0 draw with Rayo Vallecano, but that hasn't stopped the Metro from reporting that the Netherlands international is on his way to Manchester United. The outlet says that the 25-year-old has told his Barca teammates that he'll likely move to Old Trafford.

- Marcus Rashford's future at Manchester United remains clouded, with various reports either linking the attacker with a move or insisting he will stay put. The Sunday Times says that Paris Saint-Germain want Rashford to be the long-term partner for Kylian Mbappe, while the Mail says that Erik ten Hag has no interest in moving the England striker on.

- Fabrizio Romano says that Barcelona's Memphis Depay is edging closer to a move to Juventus. Talks are reportedly in "key stages" as the former Lyon and Man United man looks for a way out of Camp Nou.
