LIVE Transfer Talk: Kalvin Phillips to spurn Manchester United for Manchester City if Leeds go down

The summer transfer window is approaching, and there's plenty of gossip swirling about who's moving where. Transfer Talk brings you all the latest buzz on rumours, comings and goings and, of course, done deals!

TOP STORY: Man City to sign Phillips if Leeds go down?

Manchester City are looking to beat rivals Manchester United to the signing of Leeds United talisman Kalvin Phillips, according to the Daily Star.

Phillips is expected to leave his boyhood club this summer if they are relegated, with Jesse Marsch's side currently sitting one point outside the bottom three ahead of the final weekend, but with Burnley and Everton both in action on Thursday night.

There is plenty of interest in the England international, with Liverpool, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain also looking at a deal worth a potential £60 million. Phillips has already told those close him that he has no intention of joining United due to the intense and historic rivalry they have with Leeds.

And, while reluctant to leave the club he has supported since being a young boy, Phillips would prefer to stay in the Premier League. He could reportedly triple his wages and would find the prospect of working with Pep Guardiola too hard to turn down, given City have no such rivalry with Leeds.

On Wednesday, sources told ESPN that Man City, who have already agreed a £51m deal to sign Dortmund striker Erling Haaland, want to bring in new reinforcements -- including a midfielder and a full-back -- during the summer window. Guardiola is also interested in Declan Rice but reportedly feels a £100m transfer for the West Ham United star could be too expensive as he looks for a replacement for Fernandinho.

20.51 BST: AC Milan are close to completing a deal for Liverpool striker Divock Origi, who will join them as a free agent this summer, reports Calciomercato. The Belgium international reportedly will join on a four-year contract that will be worth €4m a season plus bonuses.

19.45 BST: Internazionale and Napoli have both shown interest in signing Sassuolo striker Gianluca Scamacca, who hopes to play for the former, reports Calciomercato. Inter are aware that the player's wishes could play a part in deciding his destination, but feel that Sassuolo's current demand for a transfer fee of €40m is too high, and have sounded out Eintracht Frankfurt's Filip Kostic as an alternative.

19.18 BST: Manchester United will allow Aaron Wan-Bissaka to leave in the summer as he doesn't feature in incoming manager Erik ten Hag's plans, reports Sky Sports. The Red Devils would prefer the right-back to leave permanently, but they are not ruling out the possibility of a loan.

18.39 BST: Fiorentina are hoping to sign goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario after the 25-year-old impressed on loan at Empoli from Cagliari this season, reports Calciomercato. Empoli have the option to make his loan permanent for €10m, and are considering whether to trigger the clause and try to make a profit as Fiorentina have made contact to understand the figures involved.

17.53 BST: Southampton forward Theo Walcott is considering a move to MLS, reports the Sun, with New York (home to the New York Red Bulls and New York City FC) and Los Angeles (where the LA Galaxy and LAFC reside) said to be among his favoured destinations. The ex-England international has managed just 485 minutes across all competitions this season, and Saints boss Ralph Hasenhuttl is happy to let the former prodigy leave a year before his contract comes to an end.

17.00 BST: Juventus sports coordinator Federico Cherubini has arrived in London to attempt to strike a deal for Chelsea midfielder Jorginho, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, which adds that the Turin club hope to sign him as well as Manchester United's Paul Pogba, who will be a free agent. Cherubini is set to have talks with Blues representatives to discuss the possibility of signing Jorginho when Chelsea's restrictions are lifted.

16.07 BST: Philadelphia Union left-back Kai Wagner is on the radar of Leeds United, Burnley and Middlesbrough, according to Transfermarkt.

Wagner, 25, has a contract which expires in December but Union can extend it by one year.

The defender won the Supporters' Shield with the Union in 2020 and has four goals and 14 assists in 104 games across all competitions.

15.45 BST: What is Paul Pogba's legacy at Manchester United? How is he remembered at the club? And how well did he perform when he was actually on the field? Mark Ogden and Ryan O'Hanlon are here to sort through the noise and give you some answers.

Pogba's six seasons at Manchester United were among the most polarizing in recent memory. A large and loud subsection of the commentariat have held Pogba up as a symbol for everything that's wrong with the once-great club. Meanwhile, others see one of the most talented soccer players in the world, a domineering midfielder who's flourished everywhere else he's been, simply unable to overcome all the dysfunction around him.

Ultimately, Pogba was supposed to be a transformative signing for United -- a world-record transfer that proved that the best players in the world still wanted to play at Old Trafford and who showed that the club would be challenging for major titles once again. Instead, with Pogba at the club, United never seriously challenged for the Premier League and reached the Champions League quarter finals just once. They finished sixth in Pogba's first season back at the club, and they're in the exact same spot with one game left before he leaves Manchester for a second time.

15.21 BST: Arsenal defender Konstantinos Mavropanos has signed for Bundesliga club VfB Stuttgart on a permanent deal.

Mavropanos, 24, had a clause in his loan contract which allowed the German club to sign him for around €3.5m, which they have now done.

He has signed a contract until 2025.

14.57 BST: PSG are basically giving up over hopes of Kylian Mbappe staying.

14.16 BST: Carlo Ancelotti has denied that the continued speculation about the signing of Kylian Mbappe is becoming a distraction for Real Madrid as they prepare to face Liverpool in the Champions League final.

Madrid host Real Betis at the Santiago Bernabeu on Friday in their last league game of the season -- having wrapped up the LaLiga title last month -- and will then focus on the final in Paris on Saturday, May 28.

Mbappe has still not confirmed where he will play next season, although ESPN reported this week that his club Paris Saint-Germain had given up on agreeing a contract extension with the forward and expected him to join Madrid this summer.

"We're used to these things," Ancelotti said in a news conference on Thursday. "We're focused. The atmosphere is very good. What happens outside, and what's talked about, doesn't affect us at all.

"Nobody asks me about [Mbappe]. I spend my time at [Madrid's training ground] Valdebebas, in my car and at home. Sometimes I like to go to Madrid's good restaurants, but nobody asks me about that... The only thing I have in mind is the final."

14.03 BST: Newcastle United are closing on a move for Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson, says the Manchester Evening News.

Henderson, 25, was in Newcastle for talks on Wednesday as he seeks a transfer away from United after only playing three times this season behind David de Gea.

The England international will look to replace current No. 1 Martin Dubravka at St James' Park as he hopes to make the national squad for the 2022 World Cup.

13.28 BST: Atletico Madrid winger Yannick Carrasco is back on the radar of Tottenham, according to El Chiringuito.

Carrasco, 28, reportedly has a €60m release clause and Tottenham showed an interest in signing him back in January.

The Belgium international could move on this summer but Spurs would look to significantly reduce that fee as his contract expires in 2024.

12.47 BST: Arsenal are weighing up their options after being told Manchester City will demand £55m from the north London side to sign Gabriel Jesus this summer, sources have told ESPN.

Arsenal are in the market to sign at least one forward and have sounded out the 25-year-old Brazil international over a possible move.

Initial contact has now been made between the two clubs and sources have told ESPN that Arsenal have baulked at City's valuation given he only has one year left on his contract.

However, the amount is based on City's respect for the player -- who has scored 95 goals in 235 appearances -- but also a desire to recoup the £51m fee paid to Borussia Dortmund to sign Erling Haaland.

12.20 BST: Barcelona forward Memphis Depay is one of the players who could leave this summer to generate funds for new arrivals, says Mundo Deportivo.

Depay, 28, arrived on a free transfer from Lyon in 2021 and has done well, but with his contract due to expire next summer, Barca may feel it's best to let him go and rebuild with any transfer fee they can get.

11.44 BST: Luis Suarez is set to leave Atletico Madrid this summer when his contract expires and has a host of options, says the Daily Mail.

Suarez, 35, has been linked with a return to Barcelona, as well as joining up with ex-Liverpool teammate Steven Gerrard at Aston Villa.

Inter Milan, Ajax and Sevilla are also monitoring the Uruguay international, who is keen to continue his career at the highest level in Europe for another season before potentially moving to MLS.

11.03 BST: Where will Man United midfielder Paul Pogba end up this summer?

10.15 BST: Southampton want to sign Manchester City duo Liam Delap and Gavin Bazunu, claims The Sun.

Delap, 19, has scored a load of goals for City's youth teams but the striker hasn't managed to break into the first XI this season. Meanwhile, 20-year-old Republic of Ireland international goalkeeper Bazunu needs to play more games as he faces too much competition for a place at the Etihad Stadium currently.

09.55 BST: Tuttosport claims Arsenal are considering letting defender Gabriel Magalhaes leave this summer if they get a €50m fee.

Gabriel, 24, has been linked with Juventus as a replacement for Giorgio Chiellini, who will leave the club this summer.

Juventus sporting director Federico Cherubini has reportedly travelled to London for talks over the Brazilian and Arsenal could be keen on taking one of three players in exchange: midfielders Arthur Melo and Weston McKennie or striker Moise Kean.

09.18 BST: Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has said Cesar Azpilicueta is torn over a possible move to Barcelona and hinted he may reluctantly sanction a transfer if the defender does not feel he can be fully committed to the club.

The 32-year-old's deal was due to expire at the end of the season but a performance-related clause triggered an automatic one-year extension, complicating a widely-speculated switch to the Catalan giants.

Sources have told ESPN that Azpilicueta is keen on a move to Barca and Tuchel said negotiations are continuing, although restrictions imposed on the club as a result of the U.K. government's sanctioning of owner Roman Abramovich mean no transfer could be completed as things stand.

"We had a lot of these talks because very genuinely it felt like he won everything after the Club World Cup, then suddenly given his personal situation I can understand these thoughts that maybe a cycle is at his end," Tuchel said. "Then it is a change of ownership and he played only under this owner in this structure so it maybe increased even his second thoughts about his situation. But then his extension kicked in at the same time.

"He loves the club, he loves the challenge, he loves to be here and he is our captain. We are still in a dialogue and at some point we are also selfish. We are not responsible to solve any other club's problems or to fulfil any other club's wishes."

09.03 BST: Chelsea Women won the double, now they have new owners. Connor O'Halloran looks at what comes next for Emma Hayes' team.

When Man City boss Gareth Taylor described losing players on a free transfer as "surgery," he was not being dramatic. With transfers and contracts more short-term and more volatile in the women's game, Chelsea's ability to retain is one of their biggest assets. This summer is a prime example.

City face the prospect of losing stars Lucy Bronze and Caroline Weir, whose contracts are set to expire. Midfielder Georgia Stanway, meanwhile, has joined Bayern Munich. Even Arsenal, the other title-chasing team in London, must focus on re-signing club-record scorer Vivianne Miedema after she was linked with a move to Barcelona.

Chelsea are not in the same boat.

08.30 BST: Samuel Umtiti has not decided yet on where he will play next season but is open to leaving Barcelona on loan, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The France defender is widely expected to leave Barca this summer in search of more playing time and is considering his options. Injuries have limited Umtiti to just one appearance for Barca this campaign.

Arsenal and former club Lyon are among those interested in signing the 28-year-old, whose contract with Barca runs through June 2026. Umtiti, who took a salary cut earlier this year, is willing to facilitate his departure and is open to leaving on loan or on a permanent transfer this summer.

Barcelona, meanwhile, have already chosen Umtiti's replacement. The club has set its sights on Napoli's Kalidou Koulibaly, Sport reports.

Koulibaly, 30, has one year left on his contract with Napoli and is keen to join Barca this summer, but his transfer could cost upwards of €60m.

Still, Barca coach Xavi is an admirer of the Senegal centre-back, who has turned down a contract extension to continue with the Serie A outfit beyond 2023.

- Sky Sports Deutschland have reported that Bayern Munich have held a first meeting with the representatives of Stuttgart striker Sasa Kalajdzic. An agreement hasn't been reached yet but Bayern are doing all they can to bring him in, with Stuttgart willing to let the frontman leave for around €20m-€25m, with his contract set to end in 2023.

- Discussions between Barcelona and Chelsea left-back Marcos Alonso are at an advanced stage, according to Fabrizio Romano, who adds that the 31-year-old wants to return to Spain. The deal will rest on how much Chelsea want for his transfer, as Barcelona aren't willing to spend a large fee on a player whose contract ends in 2023.

- Barcelona will begin work on a deal to sign Endrick from Palmeiras in the coming days, with the Brazilian forward turning 16 in July, reports Diario Sport. It is expected that he would continue to play for Palmeiras until 2024, when he would be 18 years old, but the Blaugrana don't want to risk missing out on signing him. Real Madrid have also been linked.

- Calciomercato have reported that Lazio are negotiating with AC Milan centre-back Alessio Romagnoli, who will be a free agent in the summer. The talks have been ongoing since February and Lazio boss Maurizio Sarri has made Romagnoli a priority, with the defender wanting to play for the Rome side.

- Lazio aren't stopping there, as Sky Sports Italia have suggested they are close to agreeing a deal for Shakhtar Donetsk's 21-year-old midfielder Marcos Antonio that would be worth €8m. While a contract hasn't been signed yet, there has been a verbal agreement between the two parties. Lazio see Antonio as somebody they can play immediately but also develop for the future.
