LIVE Transfer Talk: Man United set to move for Chelsea star Antonio Rudiger

The 2022 January transfer window is open (find out when it closes here), and there's plenty of gossip swirling about who's moving where. Transfer Talk brings you all the latest buzz on rumours, comings and goings and, of course, done deals!

TOP STORY: Man United set to move for Rudiger

Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger looks likely to leave the club for free in the summer, as he has been unable to agree a new contract.

Rudiger, 28, reportedly wants around £220,000-a-week to stay at Stamford Bridge, with the club's £140,000-a-week offer to renew last August reportedly upsetting the Germany international.

Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich have all been linked with Rudiger, but Man United could now enter the race, according to Marca, as their interim manager Ralf Rangnick has a "good relationship" with the star's agent Sehr Senesie.

United signed Raphael Varane from Real Madrid for £41 million in the summer to partner club captain Harry Maguire in central defence, so Rudiger would have a fight on his hands to make the first XI if he were to move.

21.27 GMT: Newcastle United are preparing to offer Atalanta €40m for the transfer of Colombia striker Duvan Zapata, according to Nicolo Schira. This marks the 34-year-old's second stint with Seattle, accumulating 80 goals and 54 assists in nine years in MLS, including three seasons with the Vancouver Whitecaps.

20.37 GMT: The LA Galaxy have announced that they have acquired 26-year-old midfielder Marky Delgado from Toronto FC in exchange for $400,000 in General Allocation Money (GAM) and a conditional $100,000 in GAM in 2023 if performance incentives are met. The United States international returns to his native Southern California on a three-year contract using Targeted Allocation Money, with a club option for 2025.

20.21 GMT: Spezia have announced that Daniele Verde has signed a contract extension to stay with the Serie A outfit until 2025. The 25-year-old winger has scored three league goals so far this term and provided another three assists.

19.48 GMT: Newcastle United have opened preliminary talks to sign Tottenham Hotspur's Dele Alli despite manager Eddie Howe previously insisting on prioritising other positions, according to Football Insider. This comes as the Magpies' efforts to bring in Manchester United's Jesse Lingard have hit a stumbling block, while Spurs are open to a permanent or loan move.

19.15 GMT: Hellas Verona are hoping to bring in Bodo/Glimt forward Ola Solbakken, according to Sky Sport Italia. The Norwegian outfit want a transfer fee of €5m to sanction his departure, but Verona are hoping to sign the 23-year-old on loan until June, then move to sign him in the summer ahead of his contract ending in December.

18.42 GMT: Chelsea, Leicester City and Crystal Palace are all lining up offers for Ajax's Edson Alvarez, according to Football Insider. The Mexico international, who can play in midfield and defence, has been consistently monitored by the Premier League trio, and while the Amsterdam outfit are keen to keep the 24-year-old, they are aware of his growing profile and the challenge they could face in retaining him.

18.09 GMT: Real Betis are interested in signing Brazilian centre-back Luiz Felipe during the summer as a free agent, reports Nicolo Schira. The 24-year-old's contract with Lazio comes to an end this summer, and the side from Seville are willing to offer him a four-year deal.

17.36 GMT: Newcastle United and Watford are showing interest in signing Leicester City's Hamza Choudhury on loan as they aim to stave off relegation, according to the Mail. The Foxes are braced for enquiries regarding the 24-year-old midfielder, who has also played at centre-back recently, and could facilitate a deal in order to make loan signings of their own.

17.03 GMT: Nahitan Nandez looks increasingly likely to leave Cagliari, with Torino closest to signing him, reports Calciomercato. The Uruguay international had hopes to play in the Champions League amid interest from Tottenham Hotspur, Internazionale and Napoli but could join the club currently sitting ninth in Serie A.

16.30 GMT: USMNT striker Ricardo Pepi may take some time to come into form in the Bundesliga.

15.43 GMT: Tenerife and United States international defender Shaq Moore is the target of three MLS sides -- including FC Cincinnati, CF Montreal and Nashville SC -- sources have told ESPN's Jeff Carlisle.

Tenerife-based journalist Juanjo Ramos was the first to report of general MLS interest in Moore.

The sources told ESPN that Moore is seeking a loan move given that Tenerife are keen to hang onto the right-back. Moore would be subject to the MLS discovery process, with one source telling ESPN that Montreal holds his discovery rights -- akin to a right of first refusal.

15.33 GMT: FC Dallas has announced the loan of defender Justin Che to TSG 1899 Hoffenheim until June 2023 with an option to sign him permanently.

Che, 18, had a short-term loan with FC Bayern Munich II in 2021 and follows former Dallas star Chris Richards' to the Bundesliga.

15.21 GMT: Derby County left-back Dylan Williams is in talks over a move to Chelsea, according to The Sun.

Williams, 18, got his first Championship start for the club in September against West Bromwich Albion and has made eight appearances so far.

Derby boss Wayne Rooney confirmed the club had accepted an offer from a top flight club for Williams and now it appears to be Chelsea.

The Blues need backup for the injured Ben Chilwell, though Williams may need some time before he is ready to bed into the first team and will play for the academy teams first.

15.00 GMT: Manchester City winger Patrick Roberts has joined Sunderland in a deal that could be worth up to £3m.

Roberts, 24, has six months remaining on his contract, having been signed by City in 2015 for £5.6m after impressing in his early career as an 18-year-old with Fulham.

The England U20 international has had a number of loans in seven years at various clubs: Celtic, Girona, Norwich, Middlesbrough, Derby and then most recently with French club Troyes.

14.48 GMT: Manchester City are reportedly set to sign River Plate striker Julian Alvarez, says journalist Hernan Castillo.

Alvarez, 21, has a release clause of $20m and has attracted plenty of attention with his performances this season.

City are reportedly ready to make a bid to sign the Argentina international this month, while River Plate are evidently close to signing Ezequiel Barco from Atlanta United as a replacement.

14.29 GMT: Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte was coy on record-signing Tanguy Ndombele's future at the club when asked about it at his news conference.

Ndombele arrived at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in July 2019 from Lyon in a deal worth around £56.5m, but has endured a rocky time at the club.

Amid reports that the club are ready to offload the midfielder on loan to PSG, Conte told a news conference on Friday: "Honestly I prefer to speak about this topic always with the club. For sure I made an evaluation about the squad, but I have spoken to the club and I hope the club listen to me."

14.17 GMT: Leeds United have opened contract talks with star forward Raphinha, says the Daily Star.

Raphinha, 25, has been tracked by the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea this season but Leeds want to get the Brazil international to commit to a new deal.

13.46 GMT: Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling was keen on joining Barcelona on loan, says The Athletic.

Sterling, 27, is unlikely to be leaving the club this month after forward Ferran Torres was allowed to move to Camp Nou for €55m.

But the England international is happier now anyway as he has started 10 times in the last 12 Premier League games, having begun the season with only two starts in 11.

The England international now looks set to see out the January transfer window at Manchester City, with Ferran Torres being the only highly-rated forward to leave the Etihad Stadium for Camp Nou.

13.07 GMT: Chicago Fire FC goalkeeper Chris Brady is drawing considerable interest from Belgian side Club Brugge, sources have told ESPN's Jeff Carlisle.

A formal offer was presented to Chicago last November, which was rejected, but a new round of negotiations is expected to commence shortly.

Brady, 17, is a prospect that is highly-rated by the Fire, but given that 17-year-old keeper Gabriel Slonina is already garnering first team minutes in Chicago, the chance to move overseas is even more enticing.

13.00 GMT: PSG goalkeeper Sergio Rico has joined Mallorca on loan until the end of the season.

12.45 GMT: Bayern Munich wouldn't move Robert Lewandowski on, would they?

12.10 GMT: Liverpool, along with Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, are the frontrunners to land Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria this month, sources told ESPN's Sam Marsden and Moises Llorens.

Zakaria, 25, is out of contract at the end of this season and his agents have held talks with some of Europe's biggest clubs. However, a source close to the negotiations said Liverpool, Bayern and Dortmund are the three sides to have made the "most serious" approaches.

Monchengladbach are open to letting the Swiss international leave this month to avoid losing him for free in the summer. The player's camp are negotiating with a view to making a move in January but are also happy to wait until the end of the season if necessary. They have also held talks with Juventus and Manchester United, but a move to Old Trafford is viewed as an unlikely option in terms of this transfer window.

11.51 GMT: Former Chelsea midfielder Oscar says negotiations are ongoing with Barcelona but the club's financial problems are holding up a potential deal.

Oscar, 30, has been playing for Chinese side Shanghai Port since leaving Chelsea in 2017 but is now keen to return to Europe. He says he has held talks with Barca, who are not currently able to register any more signings having exceeded their LaLiga-imposed salary cap for the season.

"Conversations with Barcelona haven't finished, but we have to speak about various issues," Oscar told the Brazilian journalist Marcelo Bechler. "They have a problem registering players, as happened with Dani Alves."

Barca have been able to register Alves as well as fellow new signing Ferran Torres, although only thanks to Philippe Coutinho's loan move to Aston Villa and Samuel Umtiti agreeing to a pay cut.

For any more players to arrive this month, there will need to be further departures at Barcelona, who are allowed to spend 25% of any savings -- be that in freeing up wages or bringing in transfer fees -- until they are back within their spending cap.

11.25 GMT: Argentina goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has signed a contract extension at Aston Villa until 2027.

Martinez, 29, signed from Arsenal for around £20m in 2020 and equalled the club's Premier League record of 15 clean sheets last season.

He also helped Argentina to win the Copa America in the summer of 2021.

11.14 GMT: Palmeiras wonderkid Endrick is the next big thing to emerge from Brazilian football and in recent days has being linked with Flamengo and several European clubs, including Man City, Barcelona and Real Madrid.

However, popular agent Wagner Ribeiro, who helps the family of the 15-year-old forward, has told ESPN Brasil that Endrick won't move anywhere until at least 2024.

"Endrick is already on the radar of all the big clubs in Europe, however, he won't leave Brazil before 2024. Impossible. I think that Palmeiras do not want to let him go before he turns 18," Ribeiro told ESPN.

10.50 GMT: Sky Sports says that Tottenham will need to part with £25m to land Wolves winger Adama Traore.

Traore, 25, has been linked with a move this month, with Barcelona also interested, but Spurs' previous bid of £15m was not enough.

10.28 GMT: Eden Hazard's Real Madrid teammates believe the out-of-favour forward will stay at the Bernabeu until the summer before taking a decision on his long-term future, sources told ESPN's Alex Kirkland and Rodrigo Faez.

Hazard wants to stay at the club and hasn't given up hope of making an impact this year, with Madrid favourites to land the LaLiga title, having already picked up the first silverware of the season by winning the Spanish Supercopa.

The Belgium international's substantial wages would make a departure this month extremely difficult, sources said. Hazard has made 27 starts in LaLiga in two-and-a-half years in Spain, scoring four league goals.

10.11 GMT: Will Arsenal move on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this window?

09.55 GMT: Arsenal have submitted an offer to the New England Revolution for United States men's national team goalkeeper Matt Turner, sources confirmed to ESPN's Jeff Carlisle and James Olley.

ESPN television analyst Taylor Twellman first reported on the potential deal on Thursday.

A second source with knowledge of the discussions added that the proposed transfer fee is comparable to the £5.5m ($7.5m) Manchester City paid for Zack Steffen back in 2019, a deal that potentially reached £7.3m ($10m) with add-ons. MLSSoccer.com first reported the proposed fee for Turner.

If the deal is done, Arsenal anticipate Turner having a "significant role" with club, a key factor ahead of the current New England keeper's expected participation in the 2022 World Cup.

The expectation is that current backup goalkeeper Bernd Leno will depart at some stage, potentially leaving Turner to compete with Aaron Ramsdale for the starting spot.

09.35 GMT: Liverpool centre-back Nathaniel Phillips is on the radar of Watford, says The Evening Standard.

Phillips, 24, is not getting the game time he would want at Anfield and Claudio Ranieri is looking to improve his defence this month.

09.01 GMT: Hugo Lloris has signed a new two-year contract with Tottenham Hotspur.

Antonio Conte was keen to keep a hold of the starting goalkeeper whose contract had entered its final six months this January. The 35-year-old will now remain in North London until the summer of 2024.

08.53 GMT: Dusan Vlahovic is a man in demand, with sources telling ESPN's Mark Ogden that as many as eight of Europe's leading clubs are interested in the Serbia international.

The 21-year-old has scored 20 goals in 24 games for Fiorentina so far this season and has emerged as one of the hottest properties in the game in recent months. Arsenal are reportedly keen on landing the player this month, but an €80m move in January is unlikely and they face competition from Europe's biggest clubs.

Borussia Dortmund's Erling Haaland and Tottenham's Harry Kane are likely to be the most sought-after centre-forwards in the transfer market this summer. Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski would potentially be available if the Bundesliga club decide to offload the 33-year-old should he reject the opportunity to extend his contract beyond its June 2023 expiry date. But with several top clubs needing to recruit a centre-forward, sources said that Vlahovic is likely to move to a team that misses out on Haaland and Kane.

Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal and Barcelona are all in the market for a striker this summer, with Bayern and Paris Saint-Germain also likely to be in the hunt if Lewandowski and Kylian Mbappe leave the Allianz Arena and Parc des Princes respectively.

Sources said that Atletico Madrid and Juventus are also potential options for Vlahovic, although the deep-rooted rivalry between Juve and Fiorentina could prove problematic even if Juventus are able to fund a bid for the former Partizan Belgrade striker.

08.30 GMT: Manchester United are out of the race to sign Erling Haaland, sources told ESPN's Mark Ogden, with the club ready to focus on alternative attacking options having been made aware the Borussia Dortmund forward favours a summer move to Real Madrid.

Haaland, 21, is expected to leave Dortmund at the end of the season due to a €75m release clause becoming active in his contract at the Bundesliga club this summer.

United failed to sign Haaland from FC Salzburg when he moved to Dortmund in January 2020, despite the club maintaining a long standing interest dating back to his emergence as a 16-year-old at Molde in Norway. Sources told ESPN that senior figures at Old Trafford believe that Haaland is destined for Real this summer and that United are not in a position to convince the player or his advisors to reconsider his options.

With Edinson Cavani out of contract and likely to leave at the end of the season and Cristiano Ronaldo 37 next month, United are focusing on other options to solve their search for a proven goalscorer.

08.00 GMT: Inter Miami have completed the loan signing of forward Leonardo Campana from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Campana, 21, joined the Premier League side in 2020 but has since spent time on loan in Portugal with Famalicao and at Swiss side Grasshopper, where the Ecuador international scored three goals in 14 league appearances.

"We're excited to acquire a player of Leonardo's pedigree. He's a hungry young forward with a lot of promise, and we're confident we'll be able to develop him and help him reach his full potential with us. He'll add to our attack and give us a great option up front that we believe can score goals in this league," said Inter Miami Chief Soccer Officer and Sporting Director Chris Henderson.

PAPER GOSSIP (by Adam Brown)

- Paris Saint-Germain have made an offer for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Tanguy Ndombele, reports the Telegraph. PSG's interest in the 25-year-old is part of a potential player exchange deal that includes midfielder Leandro Paredes being sent the other way. Paredes has made just six starts for the Ligue 1 club this season.

- Multiple approaches have been turned down for Malang Sarr, according to Ekrem Konur. Chelsea have dismissed offers from both AS Roma and Leicester City for the 22-year-old defender who has made just eight appearances so far this season. But more offers could soon arise for Sarr, who is also on the shortlist of Everton, Newcastle United and West Ham United.

- MLSSoccer.com's Tom Bogert writes that Leeds United have sent representatives to Austria as they prepare another approach for FC Salzburg and United States midfielder Brenden Aaronson. The Premier League club are keen to get a deal locked up in the current window, but there is resistance from Salzburg who want to keep hold of him until the summer -- recently rejecting a bid of $20m.

- Nicolo Schira reveals that Sardar Azmoun has been offered to AC Milan, with Zenit St Petersburg looking to acquire a fee for him before his contract runs out at the end of the season. The 27-year-old striker has been in impressive form this season, scoring 10 times from 15 starts. And despite talks of negotiations between the Russian club and Lyon, Azmoun could now have other options as his club begin to test the waters around Europe's top leagues.

- Sevilla have turned their attention to Lyon forward Moussa Dembele, according to Marca. The LaLiga club have been searching the market for a frontman throughout January, and with little progress made in a deal for Manchester United's Anthony Martial, they are now considering the option of a loan deal for Dembele. The 25-year-old striker has scored five times this season from 15 appearances.
