LIVE Transfer Talk: Newcastle circling £70m-rated Fiorentina star Dusan Vlahovic

The summer transfer window was unlike any other; see all the major deals and check out how we graded the biggest signings. And just because the window is shut until January, that doesn't mean the rumours won't keep coming. Here's the latest gossip and speculation.

TOP STORY: Newcastle eye move for £70m-rated Vlahovic

Newcastle United are on high alert as they look to sign Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic in January, according to The Sun.

Many of Europe's biggest clubs have been linked with the Serbia international, including the likes of Juventus and Manchester City. However, with their new Saudi-backed owners, the Magpies are hoping to bring in the striker, who helped his country overcome Portugal to reach the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Newcastle sent scouts to watch that match and Fiorentina could be open to moving on their star man if a fee can be agreed -- largely due to his contract expiring in the summer of 2023 and his decision not to pen new terms.

It will take a big outlay to sign the 21-year-old, but Fiorentina's desired £70 million may be reduced in negotiations.

While Newcastle manager Eddie Howe has been hopeful of bringing in players with Premier League experience, the feeling is that it could be difficult to deal with English clubs, leaving them on high alert when it comes to overseas players.

The club are hoping to bring in two full-backs, a centre-back, a midfielder and a striker, but are aware they will likely be charged a premium by whoever they deal with.

11.34 GMT: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer rejected the opportunity to make changes to his backroom team at Manchester United, sources have told ESPN, despite concerns among some of the club's overseas players that the coaching methods and tactical demands were too one-dimensional and lacking in imagination and new ideas.

United confirmed on Sunday that Solskjaer has left his role as manager, a month short of the third anniversary of his appointment, following a 4-1 defeat at Watford which left the team six point adrift of the Champions League qualification positions.

The loss at Vicarage Road was United's heaviest defeat against a newly-promoted side in over 30 years and the team's seventh defeat in 13 games in all competitions.

Sources told ESPN last month, following the 5-0 loss at home to Liverpool, that senior players had lost faith in Solskjaer and his coaches.

And sources have now said that several key players had become exasperated by the ability of Solskjaer and his coaches to make the team better, with one telling ESPN that the players regarded the training as "too British" and unsuited to the requirements of the modern game at the elite level.

Haaland, 21, is available for a €75m release clause in 2022 and PSG are keen to bring in a striker to replace Kylian Mbappe as he looks set to leave for Real Madrid on a free transfer next summer.

But the Ligue 1 side have reportedly moved targets from Haaland to 21-year-old Fiorentina forward Dusan Vlahovic. Who, as you can read above, has attracted plenty of interest and could cost around €80m to sign.

A humiliating 4-1 defeat to Watford on Saturday was the final straw for the club's owners, the Glazer family, with Solskjaer out amid a wretched run of five defeats in seven Premier League games.

The manner of the performance at Vicarage Road warranted fresh discussions between the club's owners, the Glazer family, and executive vice chairman Woodward on Saturday night. Chief negotiator Matt Judge was also involved in talks, which focused on compensation costs for the manager, as well as which of his staff would stay on at Old Trafford in the event of his dismissal. Solskjaer had signed a new contract at United in July 2021, which ran until 2024, with an option for a further year.

10.11 GMT: The Daily Mirror claims that Arsenal are interested in signing FC Salzburg striker Karim Adeyemi.

Adeyemi, 19, has impressed in Austria and now Europe's top clubs are ready to make a €40m move for the Germany international.

PSG, Barcelona and Liverpool have already been linked, but Arsenal are looking to add a new striker to replace Alexandre Lacazette when his contract expires at the end of the season.

09.35 GMT: Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling wants to move to Barcelona on loan in January, says 90min.

Sterling, 26, has dropped down the pecking order at City and has started just three games this season. The England international is keen for a fresh start at Camp Nou, and Barcelona can only afford to sign him on loan.

However, the Daily Mirror claims that City aren't interested in letting Sterling leave on loan and would only sanction a permanent deal if they can find a replacement.

Talks among executives late on Saturday focused on compensation costs for the manager, as well as which of his staff would stay on at Old Trafford in the event of his dismissal.
