Transfer Talk: Juventus planning move for Chelsea's Jorginho

Juventus are set to pursue the signing of Chelsea's Jorginho, Tuttosport reports.

The former Napoli man isn't considered to be a 100% guaranteed starter at Stamford Bridge right now, despite getting the nod in Chelsea's 1-0 win against Liverpool on Thursday, but he still has enough of an impact to warrant the interest he's gaining from Turin.

Jorginho, who currently has two years left on his contract with the Blues, is one of many options for Juventus heading into what looks to be a real summer of change for them as a club following the possible end to their reign as multiple-times Serie A champions.

21.29 GMT: A report in The Mirror is pouring cold water on a possible move to Manchester City for Aston Villa playmaker Jack Grealish. The outlet says that, while City boss Pep Guardiola is a fan of the England international, the Premier League leaders are planning to bolster their squad in other areas, including a left-back and a deep-lying midfielder.

20.35 GMT: Here's a quick roundup of a Major League Soccer moves on Friday, with Celtic confirming that 19-year-old U.S. youth international Cameron Harper will be leaving the club to join the New York Red Bulls. Harper made just one senior team appearance for the Hoops since moving to Scotland in 2018.

In other MLS news, Colorado Rapids defender Sam Vines and forward Diego Rubio signed contract extensions, the club announced Friday. Vines, 21, had one goal and three assists while appearing in all 18 matches for the Rapids last season. Rubio, 27, recorded three goals and four assists in 16 games last season, his second with the Rapids following a trade with Sporting Kansas City.

19.41 GMT: One from The Express here, which reports that RB Leipzig's Marcel Sabitzer could be a summer target of Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho. The report says that the midfielder, who is out of contract in 2022, has been identified by Mourinho as the ideal player to partner with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in the heart of Spurs' formation.

18.48 GMT: Despite Chelsea's resurgence and return to the top four under new manager Thomas Tuchel, two players -- Kai Havertz and Christian Pulisic -- have not been part of that renaissance. So, is the German or U.S. international more likely to leave the club this summer?

17.36 GMT: It looks as if Slovakian legend Marek Hamsik is heading back to Europe, with Fabrizio Romano tweeting that the 33-year-old will join Swedish club IFK Gothenburg.

Hamsik, 33, has been with Chinese side Dalian Professional for two years, before which he scored over 120 goals in an illustrious 12-year stay with Napoli, during which time he was named to the Serie A team of the season three times.

16.55 GMT: Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman is "fed up" with the hearsay that has surrounded Sunday's presidential election at Camp Nou and the speculation about his job.

Koeman, 57, has a contract until 2022, but club legend Xavi Hernandez has been linked as a possible replacement, while Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta was also rumoured to be an option.

15.49 GMT: With Lionel Messi reportedly waiting until the end of the season before deciding whether to stay at Barcelona or leave, the club's European prospects will have a major bearing on his decision.

14.53 GMT: Major League Soccer announced it is investigating Inter Miami's signing of midfielder Blaise Matuidi.

The France international joined Inter Miami on a free transfer in August 2020 after three seasons at Serie A side Juventus and signed as a Targeted Allocation Money player rather than a Designated Professional, which caused some surprise at the time.

"Major League Soccer has begun a formal review of Inter Miami CF's signing of midfielder Blaise Matuidi, specifically investigating whether the signing of the player complied with Major League Soccer's salary budget and roster guidelines," a league statement read.

"MLS will not make further comment until the completion of its investigation."

Inter Miami are part owned by former Manchester United and LA Galaxy midfielder David Beckham.

14.25 GMT: Manchester United want Eric Bailly to prove his injury problems are over before committing the defender to a new contract, sources told ESPN's Rob Dawson.

Bailly, signed from La Liga side Villarreal for £30m in 2016, has managed more than 20 appearances in all competitions in just one of his four years at the club. This season, the 26-year-old has missed 63 days and 13 games through injury.

Solskjaer is an admirer of Bailly and has been impressed with his performances alongside captain Harry Maguire, in particular during a run in the team through December and January as United moved to the top of the Premier League. Bailly started seven of United's nine games between Dec. 23 and Jan. 20, with Solskjaer's team winning six and keeping four clean sheets.

Bailly will enter the final year of his existing deal in the summer and his representatives have been contacted about the possibility of agreeing fresh terms, sources said. There remain concerns about how often he is ruled out through injury, however, and Solskjaer is keen to sign a left-footed centre-back in the summer transfer window.

13.46 GMT: Napoli have accepted that they must lower the transfer fee they are seeking for defender Kalidou Koulibaly, Il Mattino reports.

Koulibaly, 29, has long been coveted by some of Europe's biggest clubs but Napoli have always maintained they would let him leave without receiving a fee of €80m.

However, after Tuttosport reported earlier this week that Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentis and Koulibaly's representative Fali Ramadani have met to discuss a €45m offer from Bayern Munich -- who are looking to assemble a dream defensive duo by pairing Koulibaly alongside recent signing Dayot Upamecano -- Naples-based outlet Il Mattino claims that Napoli are now willing to consider an offer of that size as they look to get the centre-back's €7m-a-year contract off of their wage bill.

Premier League duo Manchester United and Liverpool have also been linked with interest in making a summer move for Senegal international Koulibaly.

12.43 GMT: Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho has provided cause for optimism over Dele Alli's future at the club by saying his decision to hand the midfielder just his second Premier League start of the season against Fulham was "not a gift" and was "deserved" reward after his recent performances.

Alli's involvement led to what proved to be Tottenham's winner in Thursday's 1-0 win at Craven Cottage. He connected with Son Heung-Min's cross in the first half and his effort and deflected in off Fulham defender Tosin. It was later credited as an own goal.

It was Alli's first top-flight start since the opening day of the season, as he lined up alongside Harry Kane, Son and Gareth Bale. He played 66 minutes before being replaced, but Mourinho was happy with Alli's performance.

"He deserved it," Mourinho said of Alli's start. "It was not a gift -- it was a consequence of his work. Since he came back into the team and working with the team 100% and becoming fit to play, he did well in the Europa League and coming from the bench against West Ham and against Burnley. He was deserving."

Alli had hoped to join Paris Saint-Germain on loan in the January transfer window -- reuniting with former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino -- but chairman Daniel Levy blocked the move amid concerns over squad depth and a desire to see the player succeed in north London.

11.56 GMT: Bayern Munich have announced that midfielder Jamal Musiala has signed his first senior contract with them a week after turning 18, penning a five-year deal which Bild reports is worth €25m.

Musiala opted last month to play at senior international level for Germany rather than England, where he spent the majority of his upbringing, and he has now also committed the first few years of his professional career to the German side.

The Stuttgart-born player came through the ranks of Bayern's academy and made his senior debut towards the end of last season, featuring as an unused squad member of the 2020 Champions League-winning side at the mini-tournament in Lisbon last August.

This term, Bayern coach Hansi Flick then slowly introduced him to the senior squad. He has started in six games across all competitions and made a total of 26 appearances for the German champions. Musiala has already proven his worth for the club as he has opened his goal-scoring accounts in both the Bundesliga and the Champions League.

Although he is ineligible to play for Germany's under-21 side at the upcoming European Championships after appearing for England in the qualifiers, Musiala is expected to be called up by Joachim Low ahead of his senior debut for Germany during the World Cup qualifiers later this month.
