Transfer Talk: Man United back in for Milinkovic-Savic

The winter transfer window is closed, but now it's time to look ahead to the summer! Here are the new rumours floating around Europe's big leagues and beyond.

TOP STORY: Milinkovic-Savic to leave Lazio for Man United?

Sergej Milinkovic-Savic could wind up leaving Lazio during the summer transfer window, Sky Sport Italia reports.

The midfielder has been heavily linked with a move away from Italian football for quite some time now, and it appears as if the next few months could serve as a disappointing time for the Lazio faithful.

The club's sporting director Igli Tare has noted that they won't get in the way of him if he hopes to leave, with Manchester United being the frontrunners to get a deal over the finish line.

22.30 BST: That's all for today's Transfer Talk Live. Please come back in a few hours for tomorrow's edition. Be safe and take care.

21.43 BST: Liverpool are looking for Dejan Lovren replacements this summer and have their eyes set on a pair of La Liga stars in Real Betis' Zou Feddal and Espanyol stopper Leandro Cabrera, reports the Liverpool Echo.

20.49 BST: Lazio defender Luiz Felipe is happy with reports of a possible summer move to Barcelona, according to Mundo Deportivo, with the Catalans on the hunt for centre-backs amid concerns over Jean-Clair Todibo, Samuel Umtiti and Junior Firpo.

The Brazil Under-23 international is a cheaper option than some of Barca's other targets at the position and said he's excited about the link.

"I am excited by these links, as it means I am doing things right, as big teams are watching me," he said.

18.54 BST: PSG still have hopes of signing Juventus full-back Mattia De Sciglio, reports Tuttosport, who add that a deal involving Layvin Kurzawa was close back in January but eventually fell apart. However, a cash-only transfer could be on the cards this summer.

17.53 BST: Inter Milan boss Antonio Conte has pinpointed Arturo Vidal as a reinforcement for his squad, reports Mundo Deportivo, and could very well get his man.

Barcelona are looking to sell the longtime Chile international to raise funds for other transfers this summer, and the former Juventus and Chelsea boss has been counted as a fan of the serial winner, with the article going so far as to say he had plans to sign Vidal in the January window as well.

17.04 BST: Corriere dello Sport are reporting that Dries Mertens' admiration for Frank Lampard is driving him towards Chelsea rather than Napoli.

According to the Italian outlet, Mertens will turn down a new deal at Napoli to join the "legend" Lampard.

It is also reported that alongside his wish to work with the Chelsea manager, the Belgium international is also eager to play in a different league.

The forward's contract is due to finish this summer, meaning a move could be on the cards sooner rather than later.

Calcio Mercato previously reported that the 33-year-old wants Napoli to give him a two-year deal worth €4m per season but the club is not eager on his terms.

16.09 BST: Chelsea and Manchester United are interested in Paris Saint-Germain right-back Thomas Meunier, according to L'Equipe.

Tottenham are reportedly still in the lead to sign the Belgium international but he is keen to stay in Paris.

Meunier has yet to agree a new contract with PSG and could be a free agent from June.

A deal with Spurs is also far from done, however, with chairman Daniel Levy unsure about the signing.

Levy is said to be unhappy about the prospect of bringing in Meunier as Serge Aurier was only recently brought in to fill the same position.

This could leave a space for Chelsea and United to jump for the defender, should he not agree a new contract with PSG.

15.14 BST: Dani Ceballos has used Twitter to rule out a move to La Liga side Sevilla.

The Real Madrid player is currently on loan at Arsenal and replied to a tweet suggesting a move to the south of Spain with a gif of US president Donald Trump shaking his finger.

13.59 BST: Roma have been left reeling by a €20m price tag put on Chris Smalling by Manchester United, according to the Express.

The centre-back is currently on loan at the Italian capital and has impressed over the season to the point where Roma would like to make him a permanent member of the squad.

However, the Serie A team are reportedly not keen to spend a lot this year and would prefer to engage in swap deals with clubs.

"I think the plan at the start of the season was to contribute as much as I can and then hopefully if we've all had a good season and hit our ambitions then those discussions [about staying at Roma] can take place," Smalling said previously when asked about staying at the club.

"I've been more than happy with my first half of the season, it's now just making sure that we kick on and finish the season strongly because we have a lot to play for."

13.01 BST: Manchester United are open to adding a centre-back to their squad for next season, sources have told ESPN.

While Harry Maguire is manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's first choice, it is hoped that bringing in another player will provide some competition for Victor Lindelof

The Sweden international signed a new deal in September but has had a mixed season.

Solskjaer is said to be asking around about other options, including 21-year-old Real Valladolid centre-back Mohammed Salisu.

United have triggered a two-year extension in Eric Bailly's contract and Solskjaer is keen to continue to promote academy graduate Axel Tuanzebe.

Marcos Rojo and Chris Smalling are out on loan at Estudiantes and Roma respectively while Phil Jones has been restricted to just two Premier League appearances this season.

12.19 BST: Arsenal's Bukayo Saka has reportedly caught the attention of Liverpool but Football Insider reports that the London club plan on rebuffing any efforts to sign him.

Sources at Arsenal told Football Insider that the club are trying to tie down the 18-year-old to a five-year deal after the impact he's had at the club THIS SEASON.

Saka's contract is due to expire next year but Arsenal have had to put a halt to negotiations as the coronavirus pandemic continues.

The player rose through the ranks following the injury of Kieran Tierney and leapfrogged Sead Kolasinac to earn his spot.

11.41 BST: Tuttosport are reporting that Real Madrid have ended their interest in Paul Pogba and are instead looking at cheaper alternatives.

This would hand Juventus an advantage in the race to sign the midfielder.

The impact of the coronavirus pandemic may mean that United will have to drop their asking price for the player.

However, despite Pogba looking for a move away from Manchester since last summer, his high wage bill means that it has been difficult to secure a transfer.

10.23 BST: Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek will be allowed to leave the club in the next transfer window but only for a suitable fee, the club's chief executive Edwin van der Saar has said.

Tottenham, Manchester United, Barcelona and Real Madrid are all reportedly interested in the 23-year-old.

"Last year, we made verbal agreements with [Andre] Onana, [Nicolas] Tagliafico and Van de Beek to stay another season, and then we look to help each other and find the next step in their careers. Nothing has changed," said Van der Sar.

"There won't be a 50% discount. The clubs can forget about that."

While Van der Sar conceded that big transfer fees are unlikely in the coming months due to the uncertainty of the coronavirus pandemic, he still believes that he can get value for his players.

"Of course, the €150m to €200m transfers are gone. But I think there is still a lot of value for players who come from Ajax.

"Well educated, experienced in winning and playing European football."

09.30 BST: The Daily Express reports that Chelsea have opened talks with Leicester City over a move for wing-back Ben Chilwell. Could the England international make the move to the capital?

PAPER ROUND

Real Madrid hit Camavinga wall

Real Madrid have hit a very specific brick wall regarding their pursuit of Rennes midfielder Eduardo Camavinga, Marca reports.

Camavinga has been at the top of Madrid's wishlist, but the coronavirus pandemic has ensured that the deal cannot go through.

The belief is that if the hiatus in play hadn't presented itself yet, then Real would've already had the deal done. As it is, they'll have to wait and see how it all pans out.

Ighalo wants Man United stay

Odion Ighalo is interested in staying at Manchester United beyond his loan period, Manchester Evening News reports.

Ighalo made the jump over from Chinese football in January, and he's turned out to be a gem in the rough for the Red Devils -- especially in the Europa League.

He was scheduled to be at United until May 31, but they might be able to extend that stay based on the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Tap-ins

- As reported by Goal.com, Trapani midfielder Moses Odjer is interested in the prospect of making a move over to English football in the future. The 23-year-old, speaking with Giornale di Sicilia, indicated he is keen to leave Serie B for a new challenge.

- Napoli have denied their interest in Getafe defender Marc Cucurella, Marca reports. The Italian side were reportedly considering him as one of their top targets, but now, it appears as if they're going to look elsewhere as they continue to consider their defensive options.
