TOP STORY: Spurs eye Real Madrid's Jovic as Piatek talks stall
Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho is lining up a move for Real Madrid striker Luka Jovic, according to the Daily Mirror.
Spurs have been left short on fire power following Harry Kane's well-publicised absence with the Tottenham star ruled out until at least April through injury.
Mourinho is keen to bring in a replacement as soon as possible and could now to Serbia international Jovic, although it remains to be seen whether Zinedine Zidane will be willing to part with the 22-year-old, who has found the net just once in 18 appearances for Los Blancos this season.
Mourinho's interest in Jovic comes after the Sun reported talks with AC Milan's Krzysztof Piatek have stalled, leaving the Spurs boss with just eleven days to secure more attacking depth, with the North London club in desperate need of another centre-forward.
Spurs slipped to 8th in the Premier League table after blanking against struggling Watford on Saturday and will be hopeful of concluding a deal before the window slams shut.

21.59 GMT: More a formality than anything at this point, but Inter Milan sporting director Piero Ausilio has confirmed to Sky Sport Italia that the Nerazzurri have lodged a bid for Christian Eriksen.

21.05 GMT: After three seasons in Los Angeles, 30-year-old French winger Romain Alessandrini has announced that he's left the LA Galaxy.
20.38 GMT: Calciomercato writes that AC Milan have rejected an offer from Mallorca for 26-year-old left-back and Uruguay international Diego Laxalt.
20.11 GMT: Porto left-back Alex Telles has no interest in signing a new contract, according to A Bola, and with his contract expiring in 18 months, the Portuguese giants are preparing to sell the 27-year-old, with Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain said to be interested.
19.44 GMT: Twenty-two-year-old winger Cengiz Under has struggled to establish himself in Roma's preferred XI, and Calciomercato reports that members of AC Milan's hierarchy have made contact with the Turkey international's agent in order to persuade their client to move to San Siro.
19.17 GMT: Catalan outlet Mundo Deportivo has an update on Barcelona's search for a replacement for the injured Luis Suarez, which includes Dani Olmo (although the Blaugrana reportedly don't want to pay Dinamo Zagreb's €30m price tag), Pedro (whose Chelsea contract expires this summer) and Krzysztof Piatek (whose move to Tottenham has stalled).

18.23 GMT: Manchester United want to sign teenage star Jude Bellingham this month after sending assistant manager Mike Phelan to watch him, according to the Athletic.
Phelan reportedly attended Birmingham's 3-2 derby defeat West Bromwich Albion on Dec.14, where Belligham put on a good show before being substituted on 74 minutes.
The Athletic report that United are in discussions over a deal for the midfielder in this window but are put off by his £25 million price tag.
17.36 GMT: Real Salt Lake midfielder Kyle Beckerman has re-signed for another season with the club.
"Over the last 13 seasons, Utah has been home for me and I'm proud of Real Salt Lake's role on and off the field in building the soccer community here," Beckerman said in a statement.
"The fans have welcomed me from day one and I am eager to get back on the field for another season with the club because there is still so much more to accomplish. I know I have a role to play in reaching those goals for myself and the club."

The Brazil youth international is with his country's under-23 squad preparing for the CONMEBOL pre-Olympics tournament later this month.
Reinier scored six goals in Flamengo's 2019 Brazilian league title-winning season and was an unused substitute in their Club World Cup final defeat to Liverpool in December.

15.18 GMT: With Edinson Cavani handing in a transfer request at Paris Saint-Germain, could Chelsea be a potential suitor for the Uruguayan?
Cavani looks set to leave the French capital this month, and with Frank Lampard making no secret of his desire to strengthen his attacking options this month, the Chelsea boss was asked whether Cavani was on his radar.
"He's a great player," Lampard told a news conference. "I played against him and I always loved his mentality and his attitude. His goal-scoring record speaks for itself.
"I'm not absolutely aware of what the situation is, so we'll see.
"He's an experienced player but so are many other players out there. We are young as a squad so the idea of bringing in experience is not something I'm looking away from. Sometimes the younger players need a bit of help."
14.46 GMT: Aston Villa have allowed striker Jonathan Kodjia leave for Qatari side Al-Gharafa, despite losing main forward Wesley for the rest of the season through injury.
Various Championship sides had reportedly been interested in Kodjia this month, including Nottingham Forest, but he will now be linking up with former Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic in Qatar.
14.37 GMT: Manchester United have an attacking injury crisis on their hands with Marcus Rashford set for a spell on the sidelines, but they won't be able to call on Alexis Sanchez to solve it.
Sanchez is on loan at Inter Milan from United, but the Reds will not be able to bring an early end to the deal. Sources have told ESPN there is no early recall clause in the deal between the two clubs, so the Chilean is highly unlikely to be returning to Old Trafford this month.
14.22 GMT: Sevilla expect Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez to complete a transfer to Major League Soccer, according to the club's sporting director Monchi.
According to ESPN sources, the Mexico international is set to join LA Galaxy in a reported $10 million deal less than four months after moving to Sevilla from West Ham.
"With respect to Javier, we have been in negotiations with an MLS club for some time," Monchi said in a news conference. "We are still negotiating and we are in the final stretch. I hope to have some developments very soon."
13.53 GMT: Former Tottenham midfielder Nabil Bentaleb is set for a loan move to Newcastle after undergoing a medical earlier today, according to PA.
Bentaleb has not played for Schalke since being ordered to train with the reserves last April following a training ground incident.
13:21 GMT: Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is remaining coy on whether Layvin Kurzawa will arrive at the Emirates.
The Gunners have been strongly linked with a move for the Paris Saint-Germain fullback, either for a move this month or in the summer, but when asked about it in a news conference, Arteta refused to be drawn on questions around transfers.
"Things haven't moved at all since the weekend," Arteta said when asked whether Arsenal had any deals on the horizon, while he added "there is nothing new to say on any individual player," when asked specifically about Kurzawa.
However, Arsenal fans, brace yourself because Arteta also said there is a chance the club won't bring anyone in this month: "I would not be unhappy without anyone in. The players have to be players who can really help us and make a difference in the squad, not just [signing] for the sake of bringing in players."
12.49 GMT: Barcelona have made United States youth international Konrad de la Fuente an ultimatum, sources have told ESPN, as negotiations continue over a new contract.
The Spanish club have made De la Fuente an improved offer, with his terms up in the summer, but have told him if he doesn't accept it he risks being sidelined for the rest of the season.
ESPN revealed last month that talks over a contract renewal had stalled with De la Fuente keen to move to Hertha Berlin, where he would link up with former U.S national team coach Jurgen Klinsmann. There has also interest from other Bundesliga clubs.
Barca remain keen to hang on to the forward and have upped their offer to an initial salary of €450,000 annually rising to €600,000 over the course of a three-year deal, club sources said.
However, the latest offer comes with an ultimatum: sign the terms or risk not playing for the club again.
12.23 GMT: Inter Milan midfielder Valentino Lazaro is set for a move to Newcastle United, manager Steve Bruce has confirmed.
The Daily Mail reported at the weekend that the 23-year-old's agent was present at Saturday's 1-0 win over Chelsea, and Bruce said there could be a breakthrough before the end of the week.
"It's fairly common knowledge his agent was at St James's Park," Bruce told a news conference ahead of Tuesday's Premier League trip to Everton. "We hope we can develop it. We'll see what the next 24 or 48 hours bring."
11.57 GMT: Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has hinted that young striker Eddie Nketiah could be involved in the club's upcoming matches, putting any potential January loan move in doubt.
Nketiah spent the first part of the season on loan at Leeds United and scored five goals in his first 11 appearances. however, the 20-year-old was recalled earlier this month and was a late substitute in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Sheffield United.
With club captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang serving the second game of his three-match suspension against Chelsea on Tuesday, Nketiah may get another chance to impress Arteta amid interest from other Championship clubs in a loan for the second half of the season.
"Every player has a chance to start," the Arsenal boss said. "He is in the squad.
"We will assess who is in best conditions to play in who is training well and we'll make the decision based on that."
11.19 GMT: Lille midfielder Boubakary Soumare has ruled out leaving the French club this month despite being heavily linked with Manchester United.
Soumare has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford, with sources telling ESPN back in October that the 20-year-old was on United's radar.
"I cannot see myself going," Soumare told L'Equipe. "I feel good here, I am learning, and we have high aims. The Champions League, for example.
"A departure is not planned. I want to do a full season. I am not saying that I am a starter, but my place today was earned through hard work. I cannot see myself leaving without having bitten into it. I feel good and my teammates are helping me too. Now is not the time to leave. I do not want to leave with regrets."
10.45 GMT: As mentioned at 08.00 GMT, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed that Manchester United will be scouring for short-term options to bolster their attack following confirmation that Marcus Rashford will be out for several week through injury.
ESPN FC's Ale Moreno says the club need to address the problem fast if they are to have any hope of salvaging anything from this season.
10.23 GMT: Flamengo attacking midfielder Reinier has confirmed he was in Spain last week but refused to discuss his imminent transfer to Real Madrid.
Sources told ESPN earlier this month that Real Madrid had held talks with the Rio de Janeiro club over in a €30m transfer for Reinier, who turned 18 on Sunday.
Speaking after Brazil's 1-0 victory over Peru at the South American Football Confederation Pre-Olympic Tournament on Sunday, Reinier said when asked about Real Madrid: "I leave that for others to talk about it. I'm focused on the Brazil national team. As long as I'm here, I'm going to focus on this tournament which is important to everyone."
Reinier joined Brazil's national team in Colombia two days after the rest of the squad with OGlobo claiming the player was in the Spanish capital to finalise his contract with Madrid.
"I went to resolve some personal problems," he said. "It was a quick trip there and everything is ok. But my focus is the national team."
10.00 GMT: An early done deal on Monday morning -- hopefully a sign of things to come this week. Leandro Cabrera has left Getafe for Espanyol, who have activated his €9m release clause.
The Uruguayan defender is another big-money signing for Espanyol, after bringing Raul de Tomas in from Benfica for a reported €20m earlier this month.

09.42 GMT: Manchester United are chasing RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner and could sign him for as little as €50m in the summer, according to kicker.
RB Leipzig's 3-1 win over Union Berlin at the weekend saw them become the first team ever to score three or more goals in nine consecutive Bundesliga matches, and Werner has been at the heart of that run.
The Germany international has scored 14 and set up a further six in those nine matches. This season, in just 18 games, he has 20 goals and six assists.
09.14 GMT: Leicester City are expecting interest from Premier League rivals Tottenham for striker Islam Slimani as they look to bolster their attacking options, according to the Daily Telegraph.
Slimani, 31, is on a season-long loan at Monaco in France where he has scored seven goals in 13 Ligue 1 appearances.
Tottenham are looking to bring in a forward this month as cover for the injured Harry Kane, who is expected to be out until April and the Algeria international, who is also of interest to Aston Villa, is on their radar.
08.49 GMT: Edinson Cavani has told Paris Saint-Germain he wants to leave in the January transfer window but an offer from Atletico Madrid has been turned down, sporting director Leonardo has said.
The Uruguay international missed the 1-0 Coupe de France round of 32 win away at Lorient on Sunday, and the 4-1 rearranged Ligue 1 victory away at Monaco last Wednesday, with the official line from PSG being that he is injured. However, speaking after the win over Lorient, Leonardo confirmed Cavani has asked to leave and indicated that Les Parisiens are now waiting for an acceptable offer from Atleti.
"We have always said the same thing about Edinson -- we hope he will stay," the Brazilian said of PSG's all-time top scorer. "The reality is that he has asked to leave.
"We are studying the situation. We have received an offer from Atletico Madrid, it was not accepted -- it did not match the player's value. The most important thing is everyone's desire. We must be clear -- the player wants to go."
08.23 GMT: Juventus sporting director Fabio Paratici says there is "no concrete interest" right now in a swap between the club's Federico Bernardeschi and Barcelona's Ivan Rakitic.
AS was among the outlets in Spain to report that Barca and Juve had revived talks that started in the summer over a possible exchange of the two players.
"The swap between Rakitic and Bernardeschi was a story that emerged this summer regarding a general reasoning when speaking about several players but there was no concrete interest neither from our part or that of Barcelona's," Paratici told Sky Italia.
Paratici did reveal that they are in talks with Barca to swap their Brazilian midfielder Matheus Pereira, currently on loan at Dijon from Juventus, with Barcelona B forward Alejandro Marques.
"With Barca we are working on an exchange regarding two young players," Paratici said. "We've had for some years with us Matheus Pereira, a good and technical player that is in need of a certain type of football to show his best level.
"We've spotted one player [Alejandro Marques], who has the characteristics of an Italian-style forward and we are proceeding with this operation because we believe it can be the right thing for both."
08.00 GMT: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said that Marcus Rashford's back injury could force Manchester United to look at short-term options in January.
Rashford is facing a period of six weeks out plus rehab after Solskjaer confirmed the striker had suffered a double stress fracture in his back. The injury had kept Rashford out in the run-up to United's 2-0 loss to Liverpool on Sunday. Solskjaer also said United could look for a new striker as the window transfer window remains open until Jan. 31.
"We're always looking at chances to improve the squad -- with Marcus out for a while we have to look at it closely. We might look at some short-term deals. We are looking at numbers," he added.
PAPER TALK (by Liam Wheeler): Inter to up payment to wrap up Eriksen ordeal
Another day, another Christian Eriksen update. You're probably fed up of hearing about the great Dane by now, but the good news is that the painfully-long transfer saga is likely to be settled before Tottenham's FA Cup clash with Southampton on Saturday, the Daily Mail reports.
According to the Mail, Eriksen's prospective new club Inter Milan are keen to land the Spurs playmaker before their clash with Cagliari the following day.
Tottenham may be reluctant to part with Eriksen before they host Norwich this coming Wednesday, but the Italian side are said to be willing to splash out an extra £15 million in order to conclude the much-anticipated deal quickly.
The Nerazzurri also want to add Chelsea pair Victor Moses and Olivier Giroud to their ranks. Inter CEO Giuseppe Marotta told reporters: "we'll decide also about Giroud on [the] next [few] days, Victor Moses is a possibility".
Real Madrid close in on Flamengo's Reinier
La Liga giants Real Madrid are set to announce the signing of Flamengo wonderkid Reinier in the imminent future after striking a long-term deal to sign the midfielder from current club Flamengo.
That's according to Spanish publication Marca, who report that the two clubs shook on a deal last month, but were unable to complete the formalities until the player turned 18-years-old.
Reinier is expected to sign a six-year deal with Los Galacticos, who are set to splash out approximately £30 million in order to secure the young prodigy's services.
The talented playmaker is currently on international duty with Brazil U23s as they look to book their place at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, but is expected to head to the Bernabeu upon his return.
The player is expected to be given the opportunity to train with the first team at his new club, but any competitive gametime will likely be with Real Madrid Castilla, managed by club legend Raul.

The Nerazzurri are keen to offload the player this month as they look to free up funds to bring fresh faces to the San Siro, but the 28-year-old's end destination is still seemingly undecided. The Toffees are the latest club to express an interest, but face competition from Spanish side Sevilla for Vecino's services.
- Leicester full-back Ben Chilwell was left out of his side's defeat at Burnley by boss Brendan Rodgers and that has fuelled speculation over the England man's future, with Chelsea previously rumoured to be keen on the defender. Rodgers was coy when quizzed on Chilwell's absence, saying he was "unavailable for some training." And with Frank Lampard expected to receive backing from the Chelsea hierarchy this month, many Chelsea fans believe he will look to tempt the Foxes with a substantial bid.
