LIVE Transfer Talk: Liverpool's Werner pursuit could foil Man United's recruitment of Haaland

12.19 GMT: The wife and agent of Mauro Icardi has ruled out the prospect of the forward joining Inter Milan's big rivals Juventus when his loan at Paris Saint-Germain ends in the summer.

Icardi, 26, joined PSG on a season-long loan after falling out with the Inter hierarchy, and it is unlikely he will ever play for the Serie A side again. That led to speculation that he could join Juve, but Wanda Nara says that is not on the agenda.

"Mauro will not be going to Juventus next year," Nara told Gazzetta dello Sport. "He chose PSG last summer as he did not want to betray Inter Milan. Mauro joined a club he could not say no to and it worked out well for Inter as well. I do not know who drove him out, but it benefits everyone -- he has gone to a better and more important team.

"Everybody knows PSG are one of the biggest clubs in the world. Mauro's present is in Paris. There, he feels great and is scoring incredible goals, as always. In Paris, he is happy."

11.29 GMT: Crystal Palace will not budge on their £80m valuation of star forward Wilfried Zaha amid a potential January bid from Chelsea, according to the Daily Mail.

Zaha, 27, was the subject of interest from Arsenal and Everton last summer but remained at his boyhood club despite expressing his desire to move to a bigger club and play European football.

Chelsea could offer the Ivory Coast international just that, and he would be eligible to play for them in their round-of-16 clash with Bayern Munich as he would not be cup-tied.

The Mail reports that Palace will not lower their price for a mid-season sale, as they would owe Manchester United 25% of the fee due to a sell-on clause inserted in the deal that brought Zaha back to Selhurst Park from Old Trafford in 2015.

10.51 GMT: Barcelona midfielder Arturo Vidal stormed out of Tuesday's training session after learning he would not start against Real Madrid on Wednesday, sources have told ESPN.

Vidal, 32, left early when coach Ernesto Valverde revealed he would on the bench in the Clasico. Several players tried to comfort Vidal but the Chile international, who the club fear could now push for a January move away from Camp Nou, could not be calmed down.

Inter Milan, coached by Antonio Conte, who worked with Vidal previously at Juventus, are long-time admirers of the former Bayern Munich man. They held informal talks with Barca last week before the Champions League game between the two sides but the Spanish champions made their position clear: unless they receive an offer they can't say no to, Vidal will not leave midseason.

There has been speculation that Inter could tempt Barca by offering them first refusal or a reduced price on striker Lautaro Martinez or midfielder Stefano Sensi, whose loan they are expected to make permanent in the summer for €25m. However, sources told ESPN that Barca would only entertain a cash offer for Vidal, whose contract runs until 2021. The club need to bring in €124m before the end of June to balance the books.

10.14 GMT: Leroy Sane has reportedly made up his mind and wants to leave Manchester City to return to Germany with Bayern Munich as early as August according to Sport Bild. The 23-year-old is working on his comeback following an anterior cruciate ligament tear suffered in January.

Sane could have already played his last match for the Premier League champions. The winger was linked with Bayern prior to his injury and the German champions are willing to make the former Schalke man their record signing.

The highest fee paid by a Bayern Munich, or any other Bundesliga club, is the €80m they paid Atletico Madrid last summer for France defender Lucas Hernandez.

Sane is hoping to return to the pitch in time for the run in of the ongoing season, with Sport Bild saying a February comeback still is possible.

09.39 GMT: Hertha Berlin have joined the race for Germany's 2014 World Cup hero Mario Gotze, Sport Bild reports.

Gotze could become a free agent next summer if his contract at boyhood club Borussia Dortmund -- where he has only got a few minutes off the bench in recent weeks -- is allowed to run down.

Hertha Berlin are in the midst of a relegation battle, but with former United States head coach Jurgen Klinsmann at the helm they hope to turn the capital club into a title contender by 2025.

To turn things around this season, Hertha are also reportedly interested in January moves for Dortmund midfielder Julian Weigl and Tottenham's Victor Wanyama.

09.10 GMT: Valencia midfielder Carlos Soler has put pen to paper on a new deal to run until June 2023.

Soler has been linked with Paris Saint-Germain and Tottenham Hotspur in the past and Los Che were keen to fend off any interest.

The 22-year-old has signed a two-year contract extension at the club where he came up through the youth ranks. His release clause has been set at €150m, the team's second highest behind Goncalo Guedes' €300m.

Soler has made 143 appearances for Valencia's first team, including 22 in all competitions this season.

08.33 GMT: Takumi Minamino will undergo a medical at Liverpool on Wednesday ahead of his £7.25m January transfer from Austrian champions FC Salzburg, with manager Jurgen Klopp planning to hand the forward his debut against Everton in the FA Cup on Jan 5.

Liverpool beat Premier League rivals Manchester United to the Japan international's signature by triggering the 24-year-old's release clause following their Champions League victory against Salzburg last Tuesday.

And with the Austrian Bundesliga now having closed down for its winter break, Minamino has flown into Liverpool in order to complete his medical and paperwork in time for his registration to be processed as soon as the January transfer window opens in England on Jan 2.

Although Liverpool face Sheffield United at Anfield on that date, Klopp is not considering Minamino in his plans to face Chris Wilder's team. But with Merseyside neighbours Everton due at Anfield three days in the FA Cup third round, Klopp is keen for Minamino to kick-start his Liverpool career against the Goodison Park outfit.

08.00 GMT: Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has conceded there is no reason for Mikel Arteta to turn down the Arsenal job. Arteta is in talks about becoming the next manager at the Emirates and Guardiola admits it will be difficult for the Spaniard to reject the role to stay as his assistant at City.

"It is a good argument -- why not?" said Guardiola, ahead of City's trip to Oxford United in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday. "It is uncomfortable for me. It is a question for Mikel, I am not in his brain. We talk about it a little bit but his feelings are his feelings.

"If he decides to move I'll wish him all the best, for him, his family and for his professional future. I will beat him -- that's a joke!"

Sources confirmed to ESPN that talks between Arteta and the club continued on Tuesday, with the Spaniard speaking to Josh Kroenke, the son of Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke, with things progressing well and the club hopeful Arteta can take charge for this weekend's match against Everton.

Sources added that Arteta is keen to take the job but details need to be ironed out before that happens, including his compensation package which is still being discussed.

PAPER TALK (by Harry Kettle): Chelsea to trigger Ake clause

Chelsea are gearing up to trigger the buyback clause in the contract of Bournemouth centre-back Nathan Ake, the Express reports.

With the Blues having until the summer to trigger the clause before it's no longer valid, it appears as if Frank Lampard is ready to commit to the idea of paying £40m to ensure the 24-year-old returns to Stamford Bridge.

The Cherries have done well to hold on to Ake up until this point, but now, Lampard is ready to stretch his legs in this managerial role and put forward a bid in January.

Palace hold firm on Zaha

Crystal Palace are set to hold firm in their £80m valuation of Wilfried Zaha, the Mail reports.

The Ivory Coast international has been heavily linked with a move away from the Eagles for more than a year, with numerous rumoured deals falling through -- mostly due to the asking price. Now, though, they're going to challenge Chelsea to see what sort of a bid they come forward with after reports came out suggesting that the Blues could go after him.

Regardless of what happens, Palace have no plans to lower the fee.

- Barcelona's own influence is one of the reasons why Manchester City are believed to be leading the race to sign Barcelona youngster Juan Larios, as reported by the Record. The 15-year-old, who is still a few years away from hitting a point where he could feature in the first team, has also been catching the eye of Manchester United and Liverpool -- but Barca don't want to see him head to Anfield, which is why City are in pole position.

- Chelsea are struggling to come to terms on new contracts for youngsters Tammy Abraham and Reece James, the Telegraph reports. The Blues have been able to lock down a number of their top stars to new deals as of late, but Abraham and James, who have both been catching the eye of clubs around Europe, are proving to be stiffer opposition with progress on them not being "as fast" as the club would've hoped.
