TOP STORY: Rice price could scare off Manchester giants

West Ham have set their asking price for the young English midfielder Declan Rice -- according to The Daily Express.

Rice, whose immediate future has been the subject of much speculation, could well be headed for Manchester, if either United or City are willing to meet the London clubs asking price of £100 million -- a British record fee.

Rice, 20, has represented England five times, and has caught this eye this season for the Hammers, playing in all of their Premier League games this season.

West Ham climbed to third place following their draw with Bournemouth on Saturday, and Rice has been integral to their strong start to the season.

21.21 BST: Mario Mandzukic's move to Qatar is now off.

The 33-year-old attacker who had been in talks with Qatari side Al-Rayyan for the past month, has reportedly ended negotiations with the club. Mandzukic, who has fallen down the pecking order under new Juventus manager Maurizio Sarri, will be staying at Juve... at least until January.

Al-Rayyan had reportedly offered Mandzukic €7 million in salary to play their this season.

20.33 BST: With Aymeric Laporte and John Stones injured, Man City are in the midst of a crisis at centre-back.

Pep Guardiola said earlier this week that City won't sign any players in January and will instead persist with Nicolas Otamendi, Fernandinho and some of their talented youngsters but Turkish outlet Fotospor has linked City with a Premier League centre-back. The publication claims that City are monitoring rugged Leicester centre-back Caglar Soyuncu and could make a move for the Turkish international.

City were in on Harry Maguire in the summer before losing out to rivals Man United and could reportedly return to the King Power for a solution to their centre-back woes.

19.45 BST: Bayern Munich winger Ivan Perisic has revealed to The Athletic that he was very keen on joining Manchester United two summers ago, and that missing out on a move from Inter Milan was a "painful" experience for Croatia international.

18.59 BST: Arsenal are looking to loan out Mesut Ozil in January, reports The Mirror, even if they have to pay a portion of his £350,000-a-week wages.

Ozil has not figured in coach Unai Emery's plans this campaign, starting just once in the Premier League this season.

18.15 BST: Boca Juniors chairman Jorge Anro has said Zlatan Ibrahimovic wants to join the club.

Recent reports suggested that the LA Galaxy forward is looking to leave MLS, but his agent Mino Raiola came out and denied the rumours.

"It is true that Ibrahimovic wants to play for Boca and it is true that we are in a position to bring him in." Anro told Mundo Boca Radio.

"The club is in a very good moment institutionally. It has so good financially that it can afford those luxuries. We would be able to pay Zlatan's contract."

17.10 BST: Paris Saint-Germain are monitoring the situations of Juventus players Paulo Dybala and Emre Can, according to LeSport10.

PSG sporting director Leonardo has reportedly set his sights on the Juventus pair in the January transfer window.

Can could also be on his way out after Sarri left the midfielder out of the Champions League squad this season.

14.55 BST: The Sun reports Manchester United have slapped a £20 million price tag on goalkeeper Dean Henderson.

The 20-year-old, who is on loan at Sheffield United, has reportedly attracted a lot of interest from Premier League sides since helping the Blades to promotion last season.

David de Gea recently signed a long-term contract at Old Trafford which will mean Henderson might need to leave the club on a permanent basis to be first-choice.

Henderson made a terrible mistake to gift Liverpool a victory at Bramall Lane and even Jurgen Klopp admitted his side were fortunate to take away the three points.

13.10 BST: Barcelona are planning to reignite their interest in Chelsea midfielder Willian, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The report claims that Chelsea rejected a bid from Barca for the Brazil international in the summer but the Spanish champions are still keen on bringing him to the Camp Nou.

Barca have reportedly been monitoring Willian since Pep Guardiola was at the helm ten years ago.

Willian will be available on a free transfer once his contract at Stamford Bridge expires next summer.

12.25 BST: Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has said the club will not be making any signings during the January transfer window.

The Premier League champions are facing an injury crisis in defence with Aymeric Laporte out of action until the new year and John Stones unavailable with an injury.

"That is not my business but in January we are not going to buy because we don't have money to pay a huge amount in the summer so we cannot do it in winter," Guardiola told Sky Sports.

"We are going to stick to the players we have, with [Taylor] Harwood-Bellis and Eric [Garcia] and with the new players in the academy. We have young, talented players and we can count on them."

11.45 BST: Tottenham have lined up England manager Gareth Southgate as their top target to succeed Mauricio Pochettino, according to the Daily Star.

The report claims that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is convinced Southgate is the right man to take charge of the first team once Pochettino eventually walks away from the north London club.

Pochettino was linked to the Real Madrid and Manchester United jobs last season and even admitted he was contemplating leaving the club.

Southgate has already worked with the likes of Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Eric Dier during his three-year period with the national team.

Spurs have endured a tough start to the new season but secured a much-needed victory against Southampton on Saturday.

10.50 BST: Wolves could make a £20m move for Real Madrid youngster Martin Odegaard in January, according to the Mirror.

Odegaard, 20, has made an impressive start to the season on loan at Real Sociedad but could be allowed to leave on a permanent deal.

Arsenal face United at Old Trafford on Monday, with Aubameyang looking to add to his tally of six goals in six Premier League games already this season.

The Gabon international was reportedly a £70m target for United in the last transfer window, but he has stayed at Arsenal and insists he is happy there.

"I feel that we can change something in this club and we will try," he said. "Now it's time to win trophies. I'm sure we can do it and I am honestly happy to be here.

"I feel very good. For the next few years we want to play at a high level and win trophies. That's what we are talking about."

PAPER TALK (by Nick Judd): Tonali a target for Dortmund, Juve

Highly sought-after Brescia midfielder Sandro Tonali is the subject of interest from Borussia Dortmund, Calciomrerato reports. Tonali, 19, has been likened to compatriot Andrea Pirlo for his passing range and composure on the ball, but if reports are to be believed, the young Italian could have a decision to make at the beginning of the next transfer window.

Meanwhile, Gazzetta Dello Sport are touting Juventus as Tonali's most likely destination. Tonali has represented his country at under-21 level. Juve are thought to be one of a number of Italian sides keen on the promising midfielder, who made his Serie A debut last month.

Tonali has been in fine form for Brescia in this, his first season in the senior squad, which has caught the interest of clubs all over Europe.

AC Milan eye South American duo

AC Milan could be set to spend big in the January transfer market, with Calciomercato reporting that the Serie A giants want to bring in South American stars Rodrigo De Paul and Taison.

Milan have got off to a worrying start in the league this season, with three defeats from their first five games, but the signing of Udinese's Argentine midfielder De Paul, and Shakhtar Donetsk's Brazilian forward Taison, could add some much needed star quality to the San Siro side's reserves.

Milan's situation is made worse by city rivals Inter's electric start to the season. Under Antonio Conte, Inter have made their best start for 30 years and remain perfect after Saturday's win over Sampdoria.

Tap ins

Bruno Fernandes may fancy a move this January after recent developments. The Manchester United and Tottenham transfer target is back in the headlines, after an explosive rant, aimed at his Sporting Lisbon teammates, was leaked to the media. Fernandes, who the Daily Mirror claims had agreed terms with Spurs this summer, blasted his club mates after the side slumped to a defeat on Monday night. The developments could alert both Spurs and United.

Paul Pogba is set to ask for as much as £600,000 per week in order to remain at Man United, according to Tuttosport. The Italian publication claims that with the likes of Real Madrid and Juve waiting to pounce, United could convince Pogba into staying at Old Trafford for a staggering salary increase. A contract renewal at United could scupper Zinedine Zidane's attempts to bring the France international to Real Madrid in January, as has been widely reported.

- Former Japan international Keisuke Honda took to Twitter to make an appeal to Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, announcing his desire to play for the Norwegian at the Theatre of Dreams. The 33-year-old, who has played for the likes of CSKA Moscow and AC Milan, wrote on the social media site: "Give me an offer. I don't need money but I need to play with great team and great team mate! @ManUtd."
