Toe Poke Daily: Romanian club forfeits game to attend player's wedding

The Toe Poke Daily is here every day to bring you all the weirdest stories, quirkiest viral content and top trolling that the internet has to offer, all in one place.

Romanian club forfeits game to attend player's wedding

Romanian side Poiana Mare Youth were all set for their Liga 4 Dolj clash against CS Carcea until they realised there was a rather important event happening at the same time.

Posting on their Facebook account, the club revealed that they were unable to fulfil the fixture as the team had to attend the wedding of their colleague.

Deliu Ionut and Diana "chose to sign the contract of life and get married" and as a result the team forfeited the game 3-0.

Still, a post of the happy team celebrating the special day simply said: "Lost a game, but won a family."

Robben swims for charity

Former Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben has a lot of spare time on his hands now he's retired and he seems happy to spend some of that in the water.

Robben, 35, undertook the Groningen Swim Challenge on Saturday and went through 8km in a rather chilly looking river.

We can only imagine that he started on the right side of the river, before cutting back inside onto the left before he finished.

Nigerian player gets Cork City trial after 50k retweets

Note to all prospective football players: Twitter can get you a trial.

Note to all football clubs: If you want to avoid handing out free trials to players, set the bar a bit higher.

Fair play to Twitter user @RICHARD_ALI_SON, a player based in Nigeria who asked the Irish club Cork City if he could get a trial.

Ok, bar set. And, within just a few days, bar well and truly cleared.

Cork kept up their end of the bargain at least, with the promise of a trial coming. The side are currently seventh in the 10-team Irish Premier Division, so perhaps they could use all the help they can get.
