Toe Poke Daily: Ronaldo asks Messi out for dinner date

The Toe Poke Daily is here every day to bring you all the weirdest stories, quirkiest viral content and top trolling that the internet has to offer, all in one place.

JUMP TO: Bologna announce "Pitbull" with poodle | Red Star mock Warnock

While some would have us believe they are locked in eternal conquest against each other, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi have proved that their relationship is really rather civil.

Sat next to each other in the front row at the UEFA Champions League draw in Monaco, the twin titans of the modern football age were interviewed together at one point during the proceedings.

Asked about their rivalry, Ronaldo sought once again to reiterate the huge mutual respect between himself and Messi, even inviting the Barcelona star out for dinner.

"We shared the stage, me and him for 15 years," Ronaldo said, with a glint in his eye and a chuckle in his voice. "I don't know if it has ever happened in football before, it's not easy.

"We have a good relationship, we have not had a dinner together yet, but I hope in the future.

"He pushed me and I pushed him as well, it's good to be part of the history of football."

How sweet. Just two legends of the game peacefully co-existing. Boiled chicken breast and undressed salad all round!

Of course, this isn't the first time that Ronaldo and Messi have demonstrated their entant cordial, with handshakes regularly exchanged across the divide.

We are truly lucky to have witnessed an era in which these two prodigiously gifted individuals propelled each other to stratospheric heights.

Bologna announce "Pitbull" with poodle

As football clubs employ ever more elaborate means of announcing new players to their fans, Bologna decided to try and show that opposites attract.

The Italian side welcomed Gary Medel (nicknamed "The Pitbull") on board with a little help from his new, entirely more adorable poodle sidekick.

More lovely little dogs in transfer announcement videos in the future, please.

Formerly of Inter Milan, Medel has signed for the Rossoblu after spending the past two years plying his combative trade in Turkey with Besiktas.

Red Star mock Warnock

Red Star Belgrade have poked fun at Stephen Warnock after the former England international suggested they were a team of plumbers.

Discussing the Champions League draw on Sky Sports, Warnock was tasked with mulling over Red Star's prospects after being pitted against Tottenham.

Quite wrongly, the ex-Liverpool and Aston Villa defender proclaimed that the Serbians were "part-timers," despite them actually being one of the biggest, most successful clubs in Eastern Europe. Then even won the European Cup in 1991.

This led to widespread mockery on social media, not least from Red Star themselves.

Just a little prior research and all this could have been avoided.

There's a valuable lesson in there somewhere.
