Former Kedah FA and Central Coast Mariners defender Zac Anderson has joined Malaysia Super League (MSL) side PKNS for the 2018 season. The 26-year-old confirmed the move on his Instagram account, with the message, "To the PKNS Management, Coaches, Staff and Players. Thank you for your warm welcome. I am ready for this new challenge." The Australian spent 2017 with Kedah, helping the club to a Charity Shield victory over MSL champions Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) and playing his part in their FA Cup win, though he missed out on the final. Anderson did feature in the Malaysia Cup final as they lost to JDT, and the Red Eagles ended the season in third place in the MSL. PKNS did not have the kind of success that Anderson enjoyed with Kedah in 2017. The Red Ants finished seventh in the MSL and failed to make an impression in the cup competitions. But there is optimism at the club following the appointment of Malaysia's AFF Cup-winning head coach K. Rajagobal, who managed PKNS for eight years in the 1990s. Anderson started his career as a teenager at Gold Coast United before making the move to Central Coast Mariners where he lifted the A-League title in 2013. After three years at the Mariners, he moved to Sydney FC, but things did not really work out, and he then joined United Arab Emirates' side Emirates Club. His stay in the UAE was also brief before Kedah gave Anderson the chance to resurrect his career in the MSL. The ex-A-League enforcer will be playing alongside another new signing in Jonathan Acosta, a striker from Argentina. Singapore international Faris Ramli will also be a teammate of Anderson, having recently joined from Home United. And Malaysia legend Safee Sali will be captaining the team that former Australia Under-23 international Anderson hopes to lift to greater heights in 2018.
