Steve Kean urges Brunei DPMM to be clinical vs. Warriors FC

2015 champions Brunei DPMM will look to begin the second half of the S.League season in ruthless fashion when they travel to Choa Chu Kang Stadium on Sunday night to take on Warriors FC.

Head coach Steve Kean, the former Blackburn Rovers' boss, has seen his side record only one victory in their last 10 games to sit second from bottom.

However, the 49-year-old Scot believes that once DPMM convert their scoring opportunities better, they will turn around a bleak season.

Their last match saw them fall to a 4-0 defeat to champions Alibrex Niigata (S) on June 16.

"Against Albirex, they had four chances and scored four goals," Kean told BruSports News.

"We actually had more chances and didn't score. Football is all about how you play in both boxes. We need to be ruthless in the attacking box and be really resolute and strong defensively in the defending box."

Warriors FC are coming off a disappointing result themselves. They were held to a 0-0 draw by winless Garena Young Lions on June 28, despite dominating chances after the return of key attacker Jordan Webb.

However, they could be further strengthened by new signing Andrei Ciolacu who has been given clearance to play. The 24-year-old Romanian striker appeared in the Europa League for Rapid Bucaresti a few years ago.

"We know Warriors like to attack, and sometimes leave a bit of space at the back, and that's when we like to attack," Kean said.

"That is what we have been working on the last 16 days and we need to make sure when we lose possession, it will be difficult to play through us."

DPMM will be without their injured Brazilian forward Rafael Ramazotti, a twice-winner of the S.League Golden Boot.

"He will be out for a few more weeks and that is enough time for the other strikers to make their mark," Kean said.

"It gives Adi [Said] and Shahrazen [Said], as well as other strikers who are selected, an opportunity to play and grab their chance."

In the other S.League game on Sunday night, Geylang United will take on Garena Young Lions.
