Man City to beat Real Madrid in Champions League?

Not a great weekend for the column, as Sheffield United's failure to see off Brighton ruined our treble and Leicester fell (eventually) to Manchester City. The focus is on the Champions League again this week with Manchester City's trip to the Bernabeu among the highlights.

The Banker

There's no bigger game in Europe this week than Real Madrid vs. Manchester City, and Pep Guardiola's men look a standout price at 7-5. This isn't a great Real Madrid side and they will certainly miss the creative influence of Eden Hazard. The Belgian's season is now at risk after the club announced on Sunday that he fractured his right ankle during his team's 1-0 La Liga defeat at Levante.

Los Blancos have yet to really click this season and if they are not on their game here, the tie could be over before the second leg. The pressure Manchester City apply is incessant, and you just can't see them not scoring in Spain. In Kevin De Bruyne they have one of the best midfielders in the world and, even at the age of 31, Sergio Aguero remains razor-sharp in and around the penalty area.

Real Madrid have won four of the last six editions of the Champions League, however with Pep Guardiola's men having all but surrendered their Premier League title, their whole season is on the line and we fancy them to strike a huge blow by winning on Wednesday.

Selection: £5 on Manchester City to win at 7-5 with bet365.

The First-Goal Flutter

Lionel Messi hit four goals for Barcelona at the weekend and in doing so has overtaken great rival Cristiano Ronaldo in terms of most career hat tricks (48). The Argentine star is a 3-1 poke to score first for Barcelona in their round of 16 first-leg clash against Napoli and, given his hot recent form, that looks unmissable.

Selection: £4 on Messi to score first at 3-1 with bet365.

The Tasty Treble

Away wins could be the route to profit in Europe this week and Juventus look a nice price at 10-11 to win against Lyon. The Old Lady -- with Cristiano Ronaldo in great scoring form just now -- should have too much quality for the French outfit who have struggled domestically this season.

On Tuesday night, Chelsea could come unstuck against Bayern Munich and the German giants look worth a bet at 5-6 to win at Stamford Bridge. The Londoners of course lifted the Champions League trophy at Bayern's very own Allianz Stadium in Munich back in 2012, but their current squad looks a bit short on quality and Frank Lampard must be worried about the amount of goals they are conceding. Robert Lewandowski truly believes Bayern can conquer Europe this season and the prolific Polish striker can help Die Roten to victory in west London.

Add in Manchester City at 7-5 for a Champions League away win treble paying just shy of 15-2 with bet365.

Selection: £4 on the treble at 7.4/1 with bet365.

The Euro Wager

Manchester United face Club Brugge in the Europa League with the tie firmly in the balance after the first leg finished 1-1 in Belgium. Back at Old Trafford the Red Devils should be trusted to get the job done however and a 2-0 home win is a 5-1 shout with bet365.

Selection: £2 on Manchester United to win 2-0 at 5-1 with bet365.
