Can Liverpool make most of game in hand at West Ham?

We didn't have much luck at the weekend as Shrewsbury's stirring comeback in the FA Cup against Liverpool scuppered our 6/4 banker bet. There is semifinal second-leg action in the Carabao Cup this week, while we also run the rule over Liverpool and West Ham in the Premier League.

Running total: -£49.92

The Banker

Liverpool travel to West Ham this week looking to extend their lead at top of the Premier League. Jurgen Klopp's side have dropped just two points all season and look on course to break Manchester City's record 100-point tally of two years ago. In contrast, West Ham are toiling at the wrong end of the table and it is only goal difference keeping them out of the bottom three.

Much has been said about Liverpool's explosive front three, but they have also looked class at the back too and the last time the Reds conceded in the league was in a 5-2 win against Everton in December. Indeed, since his arrival in 2018, goalkeeper Alisson has remarkably kept more clean sheets (28) than he has conceded Premier League goals (27).

Liverpool are even money to be ahead at half-time and full-time and that looks decent when you consider the gulf in class between the teams.

Selection: £5 on Liverpool - Liverpool Double Result at evens with bet365.

The First Goal Flutter

Manchester City already have one foot in the Carabao Cup final after that 3-1 first-leg win against Manchester United and can finish the job this week. Pep Guardiola could shuffle his pack again but Gabriel Jesus should retain his place for the Citizens. The Brazilian scored twice at the weekend against Fulham in the FA Cup and has 16 goals so far this season. He is a 100/30 shot to score first and can exploit a United defence that has been erratic all too often this season.

Selection: £3 on Jesus to score first at 100/30 with bet365.

The Euro Wager

Inter Milan host Fiorentina in the Coppa Italia on Wednesday night and look worthy favourites. They have not lost since Barcelona beat them on Dec. 10 and boss Antonio Conte will be eager to end his first season back in Italy with a trophy. You can get 6/1 with bet365 that Inter win 2-0 and those odds look decent, with the Nerazzurri enjoying a fabulous record at home this season.

Selection:£2 on Inter to win 2-0 at 6/1 with bet365.

The Wildcard Tip

Aston Villa could be worth a punt at 7/2 to beat Leicester City this week and secure a place in the Carabao Cup final.

The tie remains very much in the balance following a 1-1 draw at the King Power Stadium yet home advantage could be crucial for Villa. They have looked quite solid in their last two games, drawing 1-1 at Brighton and then beating Watford. In Jack Grealish they have one of the best midfielders in the Premier League and if Jamie Vardy doesn't feature (he could miss the game through injury) then Villa will fancy their chances.

Selection: £2 on Aston Villa to win at 7/2 with bet365.
