Arsenal beat Chelsea to properly establish their title credentials, and maintain a two point lead over Manchester City atop the Premier League. Spurs losing to Liverpool also means Newcastle United leapfrog them to third. Oh, and Unai Emery's return to England, with Aston Villa, started rather well - with a 3-1 shellacking of Manchester United. With Real Madrid playing later on Monday night, Barcelona currently lead LaLiga - after a 2-0 home win in Gerard Pique's last game with the club. In Italy, Napoli continue to Napoli their way along: they still lead Serie A by six points. It was the Neymar show in France as PSG maintained their five point lead atop Ligue 1.

By The Numbers has the best stats from the weekend action:

PREMIER LEAGUE

3

This is the first time since early 2012 that Arsenal have won three consecutive Prem games against fellow 'big 6' opponents.

4

Jacob Ramsey is the fourth player in Prem history with a goal, assist and own goal in a single match in the tournament: after Gareth Bale (Nov 2012), Wayne Rooney (Oct 2012) and Kevin Davies (Dec 2008).

4+

Newcastle United are on quite the run. They have scored 4+ goals four times across their last seven games in the Prem. That is as many times as they had done so in their previous 226 games in the competition.

9

Arsenal are the ninth team in Prem history with 34+ points across their first 13 matches in a season (most recently Liverpool in 2019-20); 7 of the previous 8 went on to win the title.

10

Brentford have scored all of their 10 Prem - the most by any club without missing from the spot in the competition (Barnsley 4, Huddersfield 3).

18

Erling Haaland's tally of 18 Premier League goals this season is the same as that of Manchester United so far, and 1 better than Chelsea (17). The Norwegian has outscored 10 Premier League teams in total at the end of the latest round of fixtures.

19

For someone supposedly having a poor campaign, this isn't too shabby. Mohamed Salah has 19 goals + assists after 20 games in all competitions this season for Liverpool (14 goals, 5 assists). In his six seasons with the club, only once before has he had more goal involvements after 20 games (28 in 2021-22).

LALIGA

2

The only 2 own goals that have happened in league editions of the Seville derby since 2010-11 have been in the last 12 months, almost exactly a year apart: Sevilla's Jesús Navas against Betis on Nov 6, 2022 and Betis' Héctor Bellerín against Sevilla on Nov 7, 2021

4

Barcelona have won 11/13 games in LaLiga this season - conceding just 4 goals. That's the lowest tally of goals conceded at this stage of the competition in the top flight (also 4 by Atletico de Madrid in 1995/96).

15

Gerard Pique has played 15 seasons for Barcelona (as many as Gonzalvo III, Puyol & Sergio Busquets). Only six players have played more seasons for the club: Carles Rexach, Xavi, Messi (all 3 with 17), Salvador Sadurní, Migueli & Iniesta (all 3 with 16).

SERIE A

3

Lazio have won 3 Serie A derbies against Roma in a row played in the first half of the season for the second time, after 1949/50, 1950/51 and 1952/53.

17

This is a rather quirky stat. Since the start of last season, Udinese's Beto has scored the most goals (17) without providing a single assist in the top-5 European leagues.

RONALDO MESSI WATCH

Nothing to report here. Lionel Messi was out with a (minor) injury, Cristiano Ronaldo was anonymous in Manchester United's defeat to Villa in Birmingham.
