Stats: Zlatan equals Ronaldo's record 80, Benzema hits 300, Barcelona's unusual 8

It was FA Cup weekend in England and there were a fair few FA Cup Magic (TM) moments - none more so than when third division Cambridge United beat Newcastle United. Arsenal were beaten at Nottingham Forest, while Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur had to come from behind to beat lower league opposition. In Italy, Roma and Juventus played out an all-time classic while the Milans, Inter and AC, won to remain 1-2 atop the league. Over in Germany, Bayern Munich slipped up at Borussia Monchengladbach (again) and Borussia Dortmund staged an epic comeback at Eintracht Frankfurt to close the gap at the top to six points. In Spain, Real Madrid and Sevilla both won to keep up momentum at the top while Barcelona drew at Granada and Atletico Madrid did likewise at Villarreal.

Quite a fun weekend then, and By The Numbers has all the best stats from the action:

SERIE A

7

Roma vs Juventus was pretty darn fun. It's now the highest scoring Serie A game between two since 1950 when Juve beat Roma 7-2. It is also the first time since 1962 that both teams each scored 3+ goals in the rivalry.

14

Across all competitions, Tammy Abraham has scored more goals (14) than any other English player within the top five European leagues this season. Abraham has also netted more non-penalty goals than any other player for a Serie A team (14) in 2021-22.

15

Ciro Immobile is the third player to score at least 15 goals in all of the last six seasons in Europe's big five leagues - after Mohamed Salah and Robert Lewandowski.

24

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has scored in every calendar year since 1999, (that's 24 straight). To put that in context, 1999 is the year that Rafael Leao, the player who assisted him on Sunday, was born.

80

More Zlatan magic. Venezia was the 80th different opponent that he has scored against in Europe's top five leagues. That ties Cristiano Ronaldo's record for the same.

LaLiga

0.0116

How's this for a funky stat. Angel Correa's goal against Villarreal came with the lowest xG (expected goals) number in LaLiga this season, 0.0116 xG.

6

Sevilla have won six games 1-0 this season, the most of any team in Europe's top five leagues.

8

Now this is a stat that no saw coming. Barcelona have scored the most headed goals of any team in LaLiga this season, with 8. That's one more than in the whole of last season (seven).

12

Another stat that you wouldn't associate with the team that's made it. Atletico Madrid have dropped 12 points from winning positions in LaLiga this season, the second most by any team after Levante (18). It's six points more than they had in the whole of last season (6).

17 years 156 days

Gavi (17 y, 156d) has become the second youngest player to be sent off in LaLiga in the 21st century, after Marc Muniesa against Osasuna in May 2009 (17 and 57), also with Barcelona.

38 years 247 days

Back in 2004, when Gavi was born, Dani Alves was 21 years old and playing for Sevilla in LaLiga. In 2022, Alves has become the oldest player to make an appearance in a LaLiga game for Barcelona.

300

Karim Benzema has now scored 300 goals (in 584 apps) for Real Madrid in all competitions. He's the fourth player to reach that milestone in club's history, after Cristiano Ronaldo (450), Raul Gonzalez (323) and Alfredo Di Stefano (308).

BUNDESLIGA

16 years 15 days

Bayern Munich's Paul Wanner (16 years 15 days) is the second youngest player in Bundesliga history. He missed the record by a fortnight - held by Borussia Dortmund's Youssoufa Moukoko (16 years 1 days).

18

Bayern Munich have conceded the most goals by any team currently in first place in the top five European leagues this season (18); their 8 goals conceded at home are also the most by any team in first place in the Big Five.

27

No team has won more Bundesliga games against Bayern Munich than Borussia Monchengladbach (27).

65

They may have lost, but Bayern Munich just keep on setting (or at least equalling) records. They have now scored in each of their last 65 Bundesliga games, equalling the competition record set by themselves (also 65 from 2012 to 2014).

FA CUP

1

Cambridge United's 1-0 victory at Newcastle United today was their first ever away win against a top-flight side in FA Cup history.

2

This is only the second time in the last 26 seasons that Arsenal have been eliminated from the FA Cup in the third round. The first? Also away at Nottingham Forest, in 2017-18. An interesting addition to this, Forest's match winning goal was scored by Lewis Grabban, whose last goal in the FA Cup was over ten years ago (December 2011, for Rotherham against Shrewsbury).

17 years 96 days

Kaide Gordon (17y, 96d) is the second-youngest goalscorer in Liverpool's history, after only Ben Woodburn v Leeds in November 2016 (17y, 45 d).

Messi Ronaldo watch

The exact same thing as last time - Lionel Messi has tested positive for COVID-19 (and is still recovering, despite testing negative). Cristiano Ronaldo's Manchester United play later on Monday evening.
