Stats: Bayern Munich's 9th straight Bundesliga win, Lewandowski's 39, Man United's 100

It's the business end of the season, and the stakes are higher than ever across Europe's top five leagues. Well, some of them. In Germany, Bayern Munich wrapped up yet another Bundesliga title after eviscerating Borussia Monchengladbach 6-0. In England, Manchester United beat Aston Villa, delaying the seemingly inevitable title celebrations for Manchester City, who lost to Chelsea. At the other end of the table, Sam Allardyce and his West Brom were relegated. In Italy, while Inter Milan sealed the title last weekend, premier European football is still at stake -- and after being thrashed by AC Milan, Juventus and Cristiano Ronaldo are outside the Champions League places.

In Spain and France, though, things are properly heating up. PSG's draw to Rennes means Lille are a win and a draw away from claiming Ligue 1 (two games left). Across the border, Atletico Madrid lead both Real Madrid and Barcelona by a mere two points with three games left after they drew with the latter and Real Madrid salvaged a last-minute equaliser against fourth-placed Sevilla FC.

Bundesliga

Possibly the stat of the season. If Bayern don't lose in their next two games, their manager Hans-Dieter 'Hansi' Flick will leave the club with as many trophies as losses.

Bayern have won the Bundesliga for a ninth straight season, extending their league record for the longest title-winning streak. These nine consecutive crowns match Juventus' record for longest consecutive title streak in Europe's top five leagues. Juventus' streak was, of course, snapped by Inter last week.

Bayern greats Thomas Muller and David Alaba each clinched their 10th career Bundesliga titles. No one in league history has won more.

Robert Lewandowski celebrated the league win with his 14th Bundesliga hat-trick -- that's the second-most in the competition's history.

Bayern Munich have now won 30 Bundesliga titles (since 1963-64). Add the one they won before the Bundesliga era, and they join Real Madrid (34) and Juventus (36) as the only teams with more than 30 top-flight titles in Europe's top five leagues. In case you were wondering, the next closest are Barcelona (26) and Manchester United (20).

Lewandowski's hat-trick has put him a goal behind the legendary Gerd Muller's single-season record set in 1971-72 of 40 goals. There are two matches left in the season for Lewandowski to surpass this record.

Muller, incidentally, is also third and fourth on the list (38 goals in 1969-70 and 36 in 1972-73.

Lewandowski is averaging a goal every 58.5 minutes this season, on pace to be the second-best mark by a player from Europe's top five leagues since 2010-11 (minimum 10 goals). Who has the best mark? Lionel Messi averaged a goal every 57.5 minutes in 2012-13, when he scored 46 league goals.

Premier League

A rather unexpected stat -- Mohamed Salah's assist for Sadio Mane's opener against Southampton was the first time the duo have combined for a goal in the Premier League this season, last doing so against Crystal Palace in June 2020.

Manchester City have conceded at least twice in four consecutive top-flight home games for the first time since December 1978.

Manchester City have failed to score more penalties (4) than any other side in the PL this season. They're the first team to miss four or more penalties in consecutive PL campaigns since Tottenham Hotspur in 1993-94/1994-95.

Manchester United have won 10 PL matches after conceding first this season, a record by a team in a single season in the competition's history.

Only Birmingham City (12) have suffered more top-flight relegations than West Brom (11). Their manager Sam Allardyce, though, has been relegated from the PL for the very first time -- after 534 games and 17 different campaigns.

Mason Greenwood has now scored 16 career PL goals, passing Wayne Rooney (15) for most PL goals by a teenager for Manchester United. Third on the list is Marcus Rashford (13).

La Liga

Barcelona have had three La Liga matches this season in which they did not score a goal. Two of those have come against Atletico Madrid (this Saturday and on November 21). This was also the first scoreless La Liga draw at Camp Nou between the two sides since 1973.

Serie A

Atalanta's Luis Muriel has six goals as a substitute. That's most by any substitute in Europe's top five leagues this season.

Juventus' 69 points through 35 games this season in Serie A is their lowest at this stage of the season since 2010-11 (56, finished with 58).

That was also the last time AC Milan had won a Serie A away game against Juventus before Sunday. The Allianz Stadium didn't even exist at the time.

Antonio Conte has now managed 200 Serie A games. He has won 136 of them, the most of any manager in the first 200 games in the Italian top-flight in the three-points-for-a-win era.

FA Women's Super League

Chelsea Women thrashed Reading 5-0 to win the club's fourth (and second straight) FA Women's Super League title. They also won the FA Women's League Cup this season, and are still alive in the Women's FA Cup (fifth round) and the UEFA Women's Champions League (final).

La Liga Femeni

Barcelona Femení have won the league for a record sixth time after Levante drew with Espanyol, with eight games remaining in the season.

Their record is absolutely out of this world: 26 wins from 26 games played, 128 Goals scored, five goals conceded. That's a goal difference of 123! To put that in context, second-placed Levante have won 19 of 29, and have a goal difference of 21. Third-placed Real Madrid have also won 19 of 29, and have a goal difference of 33.

The champions of England and Spain now face off in the Women's Champions League final.

Messi-Ronaldo watch

For once, neither Messi nor Ronaldo scored or assisted in a weekend in which they played 90 minutes each.

Messi didn't trouble the scorers, but he did create a record of sorts. He was fouled nine times against Atletico, the most a Barcelona player has been fouled in a La Liga game since at least 2003-04.

Juventus potentially not qualifying for the Champions League would mean Ronaldo wouldn't play CL football for the first time in 17 years (if he's still there come next season). Ronaldo has played in every UCL season since the 2003-04 season and has scored in every one since 2006-07.
