GUADALAJARA, Mexico -- Ravel Morrison is not ruling out a stay in Mexico after his loan deal with Atlas ends this summer, sources tell ESPN. There has been initial interest from Liga MX clubs still in the 2018 Clausura playoffs -- Toluca and Monterrey -- although the former Manchester United youth product is currently resting up and recovering from lingering injuries before deciding on his club future. Morrison, 25, featured 20 times for Atlas in Liga MX after joining on loan at the end of last summer's transfer window. He currently has one year left on his contract with parent club Lazio. "It's nice [in Mexico]. I like it when the ball is on the floor and not in the air, I enjoy it here," Morrison said last month. The midfielder started 2018 brightly with two goals in January and looked to be becoming an integral part of the Atlas team. But after coach Jose Guadalupe Cruz was removed from his position early in the 2018 Clausura, playing time became harder to come by, which wasn't helped by Morrison picking up a couple minor injuries. Atlas flipped from Cruz to Argentine Ruben Omar Romano, who only lasted until March 19, before interim coach Gerardo Espinoza took over. Espinoza appears to be the frontrunner to land the Atlas job on a permanent basis, with recently retired Rafa Marquez reported to be considering a position within the club. Former England youth international Morrison traveled to Jamaica in March to meet the Jamaican federation and sort out his paperwork to be eligible to play for the Reggae Boyz in case of a call-up. "It's something that's in the process, it's looking to go more forward a bit," Morrison said about playing for Jamaica. Morrison has previously played for West Ham United, Queens Park Rangers and Birmingham City and United.
