Al Sadd manager Xavi will have a new spearhead to call upon in attack after the Qatari giants completed the signing of Ghana captain Andre Ayew on a free transfer.

Ayew previously featured for both Swansea and West Ham in the Premier League but parted ways with the former at the end of last season following the end of his contract, after a season that saw him score 16 goals in 43 matches in the Championship.

But Al Sadd have moved promptly to snap up the services of the 31-year-old, who featured for Ghana at the 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cups and is currently the captain of his national team.

Al Sadd are the reigning champions of the Qatar Stars League but failed to deliver on the continental stage earlier this year, as they were eliminated from the AFC Champions League in the group stage despite heading into the competition as one of the favourites.

Despite that disappointment, which initially led to speculation over Xavi's future amid constant rumours linking him with a return to Barcelona, the Spanish legend committed to Al Sadd by signing a two-year extension back in May.
