Arbiter bans Ajax from using Tendai Ndoro

The on-going eligibility saga of Ajax Cape Town forward Tendai Ndoro took a new twist on Wednesday when the arbiter in the case ruled that the player must stop turning out for the club while the matter is referred to FIFA.

Arbitrator Nassir Cassim SC says that because the issue involves Saudi Arabian club Al Faisaly, the PSL's Dispute Resolution Chamber -- which had ruled in favour of Ndoro and Ajax -- does not have jurisdiction on the matter.

"In his ruling on Wednesday, 28 March 2018, Cassim SC referred the case to FIFA saying it was because the matter involved an overseas/international club," SAFA said in a statement.

"He also ruled that in the meantime, the player should stop playing for Ajax."

That is a potential blow to Ajax's survival chances, with the club currently sitting in the relegation play-off position, three points from safety.

Orlando Pirates and Polokwane City had protested after Ajax fielded the Zimbabwe international striker, despite the fact that the Urban Warriors were his third club this season, in contravention of FIFA regulations.

Ajax had already won a case with the PSL's DRC over the matter, and therefore feel they are mandated to field the player.

Ndoro has also played for Pirates and Al-Faisaly in the 2017/18 season, but Ajax says he left the latter after not being paid his salary.

The Cape Town club believes Ndoro should not, therefore, be forced onto the sidelines for the remainder of the campaign without a salary, and essentially punished for a scenario that was not of his making.
