Ajax loan Siyanda Zwane from Sundowns

Ajax Cape Town have added right-back Siyanda Zwane to their squad before the end of the transfer window after he joined on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns.

The move will also end the club's interest in former Bafana Bafana defender Siboniso Gaxa, who had been training with the team for some time.

Coach Muhsin Ertugral has worked with Zwane before at Golden Arrows during the 2011/12 season and is looking forward to being reunited.

"This is a player that I have always loved," Ertugral said. "I always believed in him, I have a smile on my face when a player like that is here.

"He is the type of player that plays in the 60-metre zone in the channel, up and down. A great engine, hopefully he can fill in immediately there."

Ertugral had been critical of 20-year-old Sirgio Kammies, who has been the first-choice right-back to this point, believing he did not show enough defensive quality to play in the Ajax system.

The coach says the club will move on from Gaxa now that Zwane is on board.

"We don't need two right wing-backs. The negotiations also took a little bit too long," Ertugral said.

Zwane recently signed a new contract at Sundowns, but has found game-time limited in recent seasons. He has made just seven league starts in the last two-and-a-half campaigns, most recently in the 3-1 loss to Orlando Pirates on January 13.

Ajax are in relegation trouble near the foot of the table and host Orlando Pirates in a crunch Premier League clash on Wednesday.
